I'm trying to decide what the most awful, painful and heart wrenching way for this to go down is for the Vikings, because that's almost certainly going to happen. Probably in the NFC championship game.
Vikings have the ball on their own 45 yard line with 45 seconds to go up by 2. Saints have no time outs. Keenum fumbles in the victory formation and Saints kick a 62 yard field goal as time expires for the win.

This is how the heartbreak goes down:

Vikes make the Super Bowl. Win pretty handily in the next two rounds. They meet the Patriots in Minneapolis. It's a tight, back and forth game. A real classic. Just inside the 2:00 warning, down 5, the Vikes get the ball. Keenum engineers a drive for the ages. With :06 left, he drills a wide open Thielen in the end zone. Touchdown Vikes!

But wait. It's the Patriots. Despite being an obvious, unfettered catch, the league office reviews it and decides it wasn't a catch. No one is sure why. Vikes lose.

Would you say you hate the Vikings more than the Bears? I know Packers fans in MN usually have a disdain for the Vikings more than the Bears, but I thought it was usually more hatred for the bears in Wisconsin/Iowa/Illinois.

Mostly because growing up in Ames, living in Grinnell now i've mostly been around Minnesota fans. I know bears fans but it's like a 4-1 ratio of what i've been around. And what's also strange is that most of the viking fan's i've know since moving from Ames have been Hawkeye fans as well.

I know we have the longest running rivalry in the NFL with the bears but for some reason grew up disliking the vikings more.

I will say, from my non-biased point of view since I do follow the NFL draft quite a bit. The vikings have done a very nice job in the draft in the first couple rounds. The defense is very legit. I wouldn't trust Keenum at QB to lead me to a superbowl but the defense will keep them in every game. I don't think the offense is super explosive but good enough for what the D provides.

If you were around when the Bears won the SB in '86 you would hate the Bears more. I've never seen more bandwagon fans that were so obnoxious.

** Steve from Pontyclun, Wales, writes, “The next three Vikings games could be against the Saints (Bountygate, brutal Favre INT, game that changed OT rules); Falcons (Anderson missed FG, brutal loss in champ game); and Steelers (one of our two Super Bowl losses in New Orleans). As omens go, is this good or bad? I don’t believe in karma any more as it seems to be a one-way street of pain for the Vikes.”

Are you kidding me? That’s terrible! Throw in the whole “Nobody’s ever hosted their own Super Bowl” and “Nobody’s ever played three road games in the same stadium” facts, and there’s just a ton of weird juju going on.

This tells me the Vikings could right a whole lot of wrongs in this one post season or just add another kick in the stones.

ATL will beat Philly so the championship game will be in MN.

Keenum will slip on the ice entering US Bank stadium and twist his ankle. Thielen and Diggs went to Taco Bell for dinner the night before and for some reason got the bean burrito meal. It didn't agree with them, and since they wear white pants at home they decided they just can't play in the game. Even so, their defense finds a way to keep them in the game. Vikes are down 1 going into the two-minute drill and Bridgewater leads them down the 13 yard line. Guy lines up for the kick....

And makes it.

But there's a flag on the field.

The FG unit gets called for illegal formation due to a player lining up too far off the line of scrimmage. 5 yard penalty.

FG unit lines up again....this time ensuring that all men are lined up legally.....the kick is up......and it doinks off the right upright and back onto the field.

It's an old Norse word meaning "cheers" to ones companions before drinking. It evolved from a battle cry of warriors to a common salutation or toast to friends, over time.

Proper usage requires that it be said while imbibing from the skull of your enemy

I apologize in advance.... I always pull my Moss jersey out of the closet during the playoffs and that thing is the kiss of death. I will be wearing it on Sunday because if any recent Vikings team can break the Moss jersey curse its this years.

My Jerry Ball jersey is coming out tomorrow!
