So, how long until he's officially crowned "Gorgeous Georges"? I mean, it's kind of a no-brainer, right?

Hybrid 4 example : David West

I don't think Niang is nearly as athletic as David West or Royce White.

How about another Jared Homan type player? I could be wrong. I've only seen some video clips of him, but he doesn't seem like an overly athletic guy? But he's got a good body on him, and some decent post moves. More of an "enforcer" type than a "finesse" guy.

Not having seen him in person though, I'm only guessing. Maybe he's a lot more athletic than I give him credit for?

You are right, you have not seen him play. I'm guessing that Texas A&M and Maryland don't offer un athletic players from New Hampshire

Homan became a pretty good player for us.

Niang is physically smaller than Homan and has a much, much wider array of skills. He can pass, shoot from distance, play a face up 4, play in the post, play at the 3, high IQ, etc.

In a previous interview Niang had said that Hoiberg told him that his game reminds him of Kevin Love's skill set.

Great get! Is it me or does he look taller than 6'7? Maybe it's his size but I think he's got the potential to be 6'8-9 by the time he gets to campus. That would be sweet...

That's an awesome comparison! Kevin Love. Not that he's Kevin Love by any means, but I think that's probably the best comparison you could make. I was starting to think he might be like a Charles Barkley kind of player, but Kevin Love is even better.

And the word "athleticism" is not the first word that comes to mind when talking about Kevin Love. But you'd be stupid to not want a player like that. I wasn't knocking Niang at all... far from it. I'm thrilled we got him!

"Talent" is different from "athleticism" in my book. Niang looks VERY talented. Kevin McHale was EXTREMELY talented, but not very athletic. In most cases, I'd rather have "talent" than pure "athleticism". Rashon Clark had pure "athleticism", but wasn't a very "talented" player with the ball.

Kid sounds like a great get for us.I'm very happy about it.
Give him a year or two to fill out and he'll be very good.

ESPN's analysis of Niang says that he has a soft body and lacks conditioning. Says he'll probably never be able to contribute more than 25 minutes a game in college. Not really the kind of player that you'd think would fit in with our running style?

However... ESPN also thinks Elgin Cook is still coming to ISU... so take their word with a grain of salt.

Also, Niang says he wants to play Freddy ball and also says he wants to work hard on his conditioning and his strength. I'll take him at his word. Because we're going to be running and gunning Georges!

I'd take the Iowa State, Iowa, and Providence offers (just to start) as enough evidence to prove to the contrary of ESPN's analysis. Iowa, Providence, and us obviously are not slow-it-down teams.

Could he be a Kyle Singler type player. Not incredibly athletic but has a lot of polish? Is that what we are looking at? I haven't watched much of him but that's kind of what it sounds like from reading.

We've seen plenty of examples of great players that wouldn't be considered extremely athletic.
