Self is the one that decided to push the history button when he decided to go around bragging about 11 straight. He's got his streak and we are starting ours. I hope we can show how irrelevant his is next year. In the Big 12 it takes hard work and some luck. I think Bill's luck is going to get tested.
I don't get the Self hate. That's the sort of attitude he has to have and relay to his team. Also, to be honest, outside of ISU, no one does remember or care about that game. The seeds showed it. Conference tournaments don't matter. If they did, Arizona would have been a 1 seed and Duke a 2. We would have taken KUs 2 seed. I think the committee really needs to look at that because if you take the Big 12 tournament, you have to win 3 or 4 consecutive games against tournament teams. For us, the last two games were a 3 seed and 2 seed who didn't drop seeding because of losing to us. So, they have to decide if they matter. If they don't, you can't reward anyone for them in terms of seeding but the fact you gain no ground by winning a tournament in which you play better teams than we will play for 2 rounds of the NCAA is ********. That should be a large part of those top end seedings and it's not. Don't get me wrong, I think that we deserved a 3 seed because of the TTU and USC loses, but Arizona got absolutely jobbed.

I agree, the tractor stealing quote was pretty weird.
I also agree 100% that Duke did not deserve the no 1 seed over Arizona. Didn't win their conference regular season and didn't make the conference tournament championship game.

KU is in UK's bracket as the worst two because of the game. That matters a lot.
The point of the hate is that the conference tournament title is no more meaningless than a conference regular season title. Of course the game on Saturday is quickly forgotten. The games that decided the regular season title were long ago forgotten. Duke won neither and got a one seed.
But it wasn't influenced by the tournament. Had they won would they have jumped Gonzaga? I doubt it judging by what the committee did with Duke, Virginia and Arizona.
I can't think of a single thing related to college basketball that matters less than them right now.
I'll take a top 10 ranking for my team anyday. I would say the players like that recognition too. Maybe not?
No one looks at rankings or reads their work. Such things are last in factoring into the perception of the program.
