My favorite quote:

"The city was awash for four days with kindly, happy people of all ages, many of whom had Cy the Cyclone, a critter that appears to be a cross between a cardinal and a pterodactyl, stuck to their cheeks. (Dear Iowa State: Stanford would have figured out a way to have an actual cyclone for a mascot.)"

It would be really cool if some engineering students or some of the shop-tinkering folks could come up with an actual cyclone that could be brought to games.

I'm not sure why you say conference tournaments don't matter. NCAA seeding is based on the ENTIRE season, but includes the conference tournaments. I think it is safe to say conference tournaments moved Virginia from 1 to a 2 seed and Notre Dame from a 4 to a 3 seed. Hence, they matter. But they don't matter so much as to trump the other 30 games teams have played entirely. Duke is a 1 seed because of their entire resume which includes wins at Wisconsin and at Virginia.

I don't get the Self hate. That's the sort of attitude he has to have and relay to his team. Also, to be honest, outside of ISU, no one does remember or care about that game. The seeds showed it. Conference tournaments don't matter. If they did, Arizona would have been a 1 seed and Duke a 2. We would have taken KUs 2 seed. I think the committee really needs to look at that because if you take the Big 12 tournament, you have to win 3 or 4 consecutive games against tournament teams. For us, the last two games were a 3 seed and 2 seed who didn't drop seeding because of losing to us. So, they have to decide if they matter. If they don't, you can't reward anyone for them in terms of seeding but the fact you gain no ground by winning a tournament in which you play better teams than we will play for 2 rounds of the NCAA is ********. That should be a large part of those top end seedings and it's not. Don't get me wrong, I think that we deserved a 3 seed because of the TTU and USC loses, but Arizona got absolutely jobbed.

Sorry for the rant. Conference tournaments not seeming to matter as far as the top 3-4 seeds really bugs me.

Someone makes my main point in a great article - so bumping this. My signature did not appear on my original post (95% of my posts are from my phone which evidently does not include the "signature" or allow the ability to give thumbs up?). The signature is the reason I posted this quote from the article. Really need to make this happen.
