Someone here can argue with me if they want to make the following statement:
"I think this years ISU offensive line will be equal to or better than last years"
Is there anyone that wants to make the above statement?
Again, I'll clarify for the 3rd or 4th time, I'm not saying ISU will have a BAD OL, I'm saying their OL WON'T be as good as last seasons.
SO hawkfan, let me ask you this - based upon your original comment, that the game next week is a blowout if our db's cant cover better then allowing 93 yards passing.
Using your logic, why would you think your offense will be better is Bulaga, Eubanks, Doering, Calloway, Moeaki, Stross, suiting up for Iowa tomorrow??? Iowa has 4 returning starters on offense yet all hawkeye fans think the offense will be vastly improved....
We shall see, we know the defense is the heart and soul of that team....
4 Returning starters? Iowa returns Vandervelde, Stanzi, Robinson, Reiff, DJK, McNutt, and Reisner who started half the games last year...I'd say Iowa returns 6.5 starters.
LOL! What do you not get about this! Is Reggie Stephens suiting up for ISU next week? How about Scott Haughton?
ISU lost two really important lynch pins of their offensive line this offseason....so again...it really doesn't matter what happened LAST YEAR...it matters what will happen THIS YEAR.....and THIS YEAR ISU's OL, at least from what I saw last night, wasn't NEARLY as dominant as they were LAST YEAR, where ISU averaged over 5 YPC on Iowa.
Last year, no one slowed down ISU's rushing attack....this year...NIU did....draw your own conclusions I guess....
For those of you complaining about "taking away Arob's one big run" - obviously you don't follow statistics.
If Arob had 1 big run and 19 bad ones....do you know what that 1 big run is called? It's called an outlier...the 19 bad ones are the more statistically relevant runs.
4. the fact that this was one of the better offenses in the MVC las year speaks volumes about the Iowa's dominating defense.I am looking forward to his 9 observations from the EIU game:
here is a sample
1. Iowa won 28-14, but 14 of those points were in the 4th quarter when our defense wasnt trying.
2. Stanzi's 2 INTs are outliers. The rest of the game he was 12-20.
3. Clayborn never got to the QB in the backfield, because Norm was trying a new scheme where the D-End spies the QB.
That was a lot of justification of who started or did not...and of those listed, Reiff didnt start the season as a starter, Reisner got it by injury, Robinson got it because of an injury...Okay but anyways.....u didnt answer the question
to simplify, Iowa lost 4 guys to the NFL from their offense - In your opinion ARE THEY GOING TO BE BETTER or WORSE and why?
4 to the NFL?
Will they be better or worse? Who knows. I haven't seen them play yet. Notice I'm making these comments about ISU AFTER watching them play....not BEFORE. Talk to me 24 hours from now and I'll answer your question.
yeah that was my fault actually its 3 from offense and 5 total if u count Angererererer and Spievey....
I was basing the question on your thoughts about your own team. And the fact that you made comments about why would any ISU fan think their oline would be equal to or better then last years line because we lost Stephens and Haughton. So i thought i was just turning the tables, why would any Iowa fan think their line would be as dominant as it was last year because they lost 2 starters to the NFL and three overall.
Secondly, u directed comments that stated if ISU were to lose two guys in coverage like they did last night that Iowa would blow them out. That is making the claim that Iowas offense is pretty good, because there are missed opportunities in every game...

It was actually 6 to the NFL - you forgot Edds.
Again, I was basing my comments for ISU on actually seeing the team play....I wasn't basing it on what I thought would happen....I watched ISU last night, and that was my impression of their OL....it didn't look as good as it did last season.
On to how Iowa could possibly have a better line....I don't know if they will or not, but the key difference between Iowa and ISU, in terms of offensive line production, is the fact that Iowa pipelines lineman into the NFL....Iowa has had an OL drafted almost every year....when was the last time ISU had an offensive lineman drafted? KF has proven he can put regularly build NFL level offensive linemen at Iowa....that isn't the case at ISU....at least not yet....could Rhoads get there? Absolutely, but I'll have to see it before I believe it.
We'll know at least a little bit more about the Iowa offense tomorrow.
