If you loose that friend or buffer, and don't have a particularly good relationship with the HC, I can completely see why a kid would leave after and assistant.

And there's the rub...successful programs don't act like a damn dysfunctional family with the kids playing the whole "Mom vs. Dad" card. When head coaches get paid as much as they do to lead a basketball program, they should be able to develop good, or at least civil, relationships with their players, even if the player is "closer" to an assistant. I don't think that is too much to ask.

I knew the Colvin transfer was coming, but seeing it in print just pisses me off to no end. I grew up going to games in Hilton. I am a Cyclone Fanatic when it comes to our basketball program. Seeing the complete and utter annihilation of it makes me ill.

Good ridence. Suprised it wasn't sooner after his little 5 yr old locker room tantrum. Better now then later.

Mac should have gotten rid of him sooner...Look stupid not doing it, but nothing we can do about it now.

It is quotes like this that make people not really care if you have inside information or not. ISU basketball is an embarrassment. Anybody not realizing this, or not wanting change, are evidently more invested in McD or JP's careers, or their own. No way any rational ISU fan could want more of this crap.

They also have the effect of making people like me, who are diehard Cyclones, actually consider cheering for ISU to lose, so as to rid ISU of the cancer that has infected its men's basketball program. I am disgusted with myself that I actually had to type that, but it is the truth. Ames is a great community and ISU is a fantastic institution that deserves better, much better. Players and coaches should not be bailing as fast as they can, year after year, or during the year even.

I am sick to death of the McD and JP folks who keep telling us "all is well". No, it isn't. Stop saying that. We are doomed. And if this year's men's season turns out as we all think it will, ISU should have two big job openings. No more excuses for this crap. Not when our coach's best year was his first year on the job here.

What are you talking about?
Our program is in impeccable shape, best it's been in 20 years!

Going to be a while, along while...Keep waiting.

KG,
Do you honestly think that if we only win anywhere from 10-14 games next year that JP wont pull the plug? Honestly? I understand your position here with Greg and why but with another bad year there will be a some ticked off fans who have been told to just wait a little longer each year from all the Greg backers.

just like pollard should have gotten rid of mac but it all comes down to $$$
but alas here we are today...

FYI, cash has nothing to do with it, but if it helps you sleep, I can go with that.

Everyone jokes about it now but do you guys realize how bad we are going to be next year? Its going to be freaking comedy out on the court. If we thought Iowa had a ****** year this year wait till Iowa state next year. We honestly wont win 6 games next year. We will get beat by an average of 25-30 points in conference play and will not win ONE conference game.

Well why wouldn't we keep McDermott around? He's really good at what he does.

His job is to lose basketball games and run players out of Ames, right?

Are you telling me that pollard is that naive?
does he actually think that we're headed in the "right direction"

I'm telling you, believe it or not...JP has more information than the people on this site.

Here's another question...since Colvin was apparently so tight with Robinson, do you think there's a good chance he will transfer down to Houston?
