If he was dating a normal student it's no big deal. However, you can't be banging one of your players. That is pretty crazy to think it would be ok.
If they were just two random people dating then sure, none of anybody's business.
But a superior in a position of authority over a subordinate, like coach/player, has all sorts of ethnical complications in the abstract and some very concrete real-world legal issues for the employer/university.
My statement was a joke in replying to Jobo and Fran getting it on. A coach should not be getting busy with a player in the college level. Not sure if its illegal besides just unethical.
This is why I find it odd the player is kicked off the team immediately. I would think the university would have to tread lightly.

There were speculations that it was related to classroom-related issue (coach helped with assignments or homework - something like that). That's why the coach is only suspended.
Why I posted earlier that all there was was assumptions and why we can't answer whey the school has done what it has done.
That fits the known facts (she being immediately punished/off the team especially) better than the nookie scenario.
Ehh. She's 23. Professors sleep with grad students all the time. Don't see a problem other than it may violate NCAA rules. But then again, a coach buying a player a cheeseburger at McDonald's is against NCAA rules.
Because he is in control of Jobo. Jobo received a scholarship to play, that puts Fran in a position of control.
Everything is pure pure speculation. This may have in fact be the farthest from the truth. But what if she came on to him and he self reported it. Obviously she is extremely attractive, but we automatically assume he and her had a relationship? But what if she came on to him? The University did exactly what they should do. Girl-- yep you cant do that, you are out of here! Coach-- we have a male coach with a female student athlete. Go home, dont worry we are going to pay you but we have to let the proper channels investigate this.

In these type of positions, they always get suspended with pay. Cheaper than the lawsuit if it turns out to be false.
