Good lord it is out of control. I swear you can't go anywhere and not be outnumbered by morbidly obese people anymore. I'm sure most of these folks are good people, but good lord it's just getting ridiculous.

i think there are certain hot spots where overweight people tend to be at. the mall would be one.

Went to a movie yesterday and I leaned over and told my wife she was the only reasonable sized adult female in the audience.

Just never really looked around, but it caught my attention yesterday and so today when I was out and about I really paid attention...was somewhat appalled at what I saw.

fat people came about becuase of:

1. Wal-Mart, wal-mart has a tractor beam that draws them in.
2. 99 cent menus, fat people are typically poor...so they eat on the value menus.
3. Technology........no one is outside playing games or excercising. they spend their day/nights on CF and other sites getting fat.

We were at the lake this weekend and talked about the same thing. I am not skinny but some of these people are just huge and many wear clothes 2 sizes too small.

4. Corn. Though no one in Iowa wants to admit it or believe it.

What? What percentage of an obese person's diet is from corn?

I am not skinny by any means but I am not obese. I was at the store today and I also had the same thought run through my head. I look around and see 250 lb women getting frozen foods, other prepared foods, chips, and pop. I am not a great cook but I get raw ingredients and make what I can to stay somewhat healthy. I just can't imagine getting as big as some people do and not doing something about it.

The number one reason for people being fat is that they are very lazy.

I would say that or the opposite. They have a very busy job so instead of eating decent they grab something quick and easy at a convenience store or fast food joint. I know I am guilty of that in the spring and fall.

Honestly at least 50%. Probably closer to 80%. Corn is in EVERYTHING. It has been processed out of need due to overproduction from subsidies. Just no one knows it. Most people get fat off corn syrup in pop.

I personally don't care. Corn pays my bills and my family's bill. Anything after that and I don't care.

Meals in a package, processed food, sugar, and lack of fruit and vegies in a diet are also issues.

Here is a question. How many of you weigh yourself everyday? I do and have for the last 20yrs. If I'm a couple lbs up one day, I just hold back a little the next day. Pretty much maintained my weight since graduating college 20yrs ago at 170lbs.
I also exercise religiously, but I really don't understand how folks let themselves get so out of hand weight wise.

While this is true. Please explain how it's corns fault for them being overweight?

As far as volume corn is in a lot of things but it isn't 50-80% of what you take in. It may be in most of the things you eat but there isn't that much corn by mass or volume in many things. I get your point but the fact is that people need to make their own decisions. Pop is a perfect example. Drink some water for crying out loud. I work with a guy that drinks 2 liter bottles a day.

When I have kids, the won't be allowed to have any kind of video game system until their 13. About the time they're in junior high and get into school organized sports.

I normally do. I really need to start running or something. If not to lose a little weight, just to be in better shape.
