I'm looking for a strong OC who will improve the scheme's of the OL, while developing a QB that can handle the Big 12.

We need another teacher like Burnham.

Maybe we'll hire a non-splash guy this time. Herman was an up and comer/successful at lower level.

Hire some old dude that has seen it all. Hell hire tony Franklin... I'd be happy

I'd be very happy with Franklin. I was actually just reading up on him, and sounded like he took over one of the worst offenses in the conference and turned it into a top one right away. QB's have been very successful in his system, but I think we might need someone else to be the QB coach.

I say we hire Ron Zook as O.C. even though hes a defensive guy just let him recruit and prepare and have someone else call the plays.

I think where Franklin succeeds is his ability to teach. Not every coach has that.

Ok, just so I understand: Herman is a great OC and the reason his offenses sucked here is because it is ISU.

So explain why Wally Burnham isn't having the same problems? Sure, our defenses don't have gawky stats, but considering the schedules, he's done incredible.

Tom Herman is going to OSU to be the QB coach with an OC title. Good luck to him. He'll make good money before the next round of violations are made in columbus.

This hire is a huge moment for CPR. If he gets this right a competent offense would lift this team immensely, a great Offense could catapult us to 8-10 wins.
I believe you are right on the money, we know what we get in Wally, and the last 3 years have been phenomenal defensively considering where we started. It has gotten better. This year it looked like we had BCS talent defending the football. Minus Leonard we likely upgrade next year assuming underclassmen getting better stalwarts like Knott and Klein at least staying the same and incoming talent/redshirted talent starting to make names for themselves. One thing is for certain with as many quality bodies we have we shouldnt get worn down.
If we can add a consistent offense to that mix look out.

Given CPR's track record with coaches, players, team, etc. I am going to be excited about whoever he is likes enough to be his OC.

If we are going to have issues "because we are ISU" it would happen to the defense first. Defense is much more reactionary within the course of play and therefor relies more on talent. Wally has overcome some disadvantages by teaching and putting schemes together that make it harder for us to be exposed. The same can be done on offense with the right guys and time.

Josh Heupel is the guy out of OU that we want. QB coach/Co-OC. Coached the likes of Jason White, Sam Bradford, and Landry Jones. Also did a great job with Paul Thompson. We all know what White, Bradford, and Jones have done, but Thompson might have been his best coaching job considering Thompson wasn't even going to play QB before the season started. Thompson went on to lead OU to 11-3 that year and ranks high in alot of season records for passing. Plus Josh played for Leach and Mangino while they were OC's at OU. I know that this is a long shot, but I'll keep hoping. I'm a little biased though.

Any chance we could steal Todd Fitch from USF? He was very good at relating to QB's. He had Arnaud developing nicely until Herman ruined him.
