He may presently be a "Co" OC with Oklahoma, but he is being paid like a position coach (not making an OC salary).

To be honest, I was initially dismissive of the potential for Josh Heupel to be a candidate for the OC position. He is tied pretty tight to OU. But, the more I thought about it, the more I concluded that that may not necessarily be the case. One thing that is apparent is that at some point Josh Heupel wants to be a head coach. (Similar to CPR). With that in mind, I think that it is likely that within the next 2 - 3 years, Josh Heupel is likely to leave OU. He basically needs to establish his own reputation (as a coach). I would sort of think that he would go to a "non" Big 12 football program. But, maybe not.

What I do know, is that Josh Heupel is one of the best QB coaches in the county. He has served time under some of the best offensive minds in college football. Although, I consider it unlikely that Iowa State would be able to "hire away" Josh Heupel, I would personally consider Josh Heupel to be a "grand-slam" homerun hire.

Agreed. Heupel would absolutely be a home run hire. Josh would do wonders with our QB's.

You have become a horrible poster, congrats.

Why? Because someone said something ridiculous like, oh I don't know... The OC at one of the most prestige's schools in the country. His alma mater. The school he won a national title with. The school he finishes runner up in the heisman voting with, would leave to take the same job at Iowa State. How stupid of me, Of course that is reasonable.

Does anyone really know much about the offensive coordinator from Southern Miss? They had one of the top offenses in the country. I know the coordinator is named Blake Anderson, other than that, I do not know anything else.

I can't even imagine who it would be? Messingham?

I think it'd be Messingham. It'd kind of suck since I think he's done a greaat job with special teams and a good job with receivers this year.

A huge plus would be that, if he succeeds, he may stick around for a long, long, time.

Oklahoma has "Co" Offensive Coordinators. Josh Heupel and Jay Norvell. Josh Heupel coaches QBs and is Co-OC. Jay Norvell coaches WRs and is Co-OC. Josh Heupel is paid $250,000 (same as other position coaches). Jay Norvell is paid $450,000 (same as the DC).

Is it possible that Josh Heupel would like to be an OC and get paid like an OC ?

How about we don't hire anyone from OU.

Look how Donnie Duncan turned out!
