I'm not sure what exactly it all entails but whatever it is, ISU struggles with this very basic thing.
I just check another box for disorganized, which is a pretty consistent theme offensively. I'm starting to get more comfortable with Scheelhaus calling plays. Hopefully he gets the freedom he needs.

After listening to Bruns pod and his scheme frustrations, I'm not sure it's talent. We definitely got some hogs that other good teams wanted. Outside of the list below, took 2 JUCO's last year and have a bunch of lightly recruited Iowa boys as well.

Maro: 36 offers, 17 P5 - TCU, KSU, OSU, Oregon, Utah

Pauls: 8 offers, 8 P5 - KSU, Purdue, Iowa, OSU, MN, Nebby, KU

Deyo: 7 offers, 7 P5 - Oregon, KSU, Iowa, MN, WI, AR

Miller: 8 offers, 7 P5 - Purdue, Cinci, MN, Nebby, UVA

Rengert: 10 offers, 6 P5 - Cinci, Purdue, WVU, UVA, Rutgers

Hasert: 5 offers, 5 P5 - KSU, Iowa, MN, Nebby

I think it’s coaching and culture. How else can you explain some of the peewee football lapses we saw this year? Too many missed assignments, dozens of false starts, delays of game, it went on and on. There was either a coaching problem or a culture problem.

Same OL coach for 5 years...we have people wanted by other good programs over the last 3 classes. Their development is the concerning part...
Thing is, he's getting his agenda from Campbell. He doesn't perform in a vacuum. That's what's really concerning. Why has it gotten this far?

Throw some cash out there and buy a couple tackles. Center and guards are set, but the tackles suck.
People do not understand - WE DO NOT HAVE ANY CASH. We cannot compete with anybody for a quality player if $ is an issue.

I always thought he should be our short yardage QB
Seems like he can actually throw a little bit, I wasn't sure if he was just a fast 300 pound kid which would make him damn near impossible to tackle at the h.s. level but per his bio on cyclones.com:

threw for over 3,000 yards and rushed for nearly 4,000 yards in his career … led team to playoffs in his last two seasons, compiling a 20-4 record … as a senior, tallied 20 tackles and 5.0 TFL on defense and was responsible for 36 touchdowns on offense … coached by William Lowe.

Campbell is the CEO, he shouldn't be micromanaging. Hire the right guys in the right spots and let them do their thing. Too long of leash on the OL coach no doubt.

And since he isn't hiring a special teams coordinator, maybe he should micromanage that.

Hell, put him in to do anything and it's better than running off tackle 4 times in a row and getting -1 yards.

I really really doubt that. He fancies himself an Oline guru. He's not ignoring the most important position on the field.

Can’t believe we’re already back to the “we have talent” portion of the OL offseason.
I think its fair to say Simmons, Downing, Miller, and Remsberg were disappointing this year.

It's also fair to say for the young pups in the O line pipeline many had a ton of offers. Hunter Deyo, Deylin Hasert, Tyler Maro. Hayden Pauls were wanted by tons of P5 schools in the midwest. We need these guys to be dawgs next year.

I think it's more the OL coach than the strength coach. Because when I look at our D line, i don't see many strength or conditioning issues.
