This feel like the basketball version of the Rhoads era. Won with another coaches recruits. And he gets praised for the "fantastic" job he did. These clones won on pure talent. Can someone tell me how SP makes this team better? If i were a betting man I would bet we don't see a winning Big12 record again under this regime. Saddens me to say it and I hate to pessimistic, but objectively speaking I think time will reveal this to be true. Unfortunately.....
Except Rhoads never had a recruiting class in football comparable to what Prohm is bringing in next year

I just can't figure out why we didn't isolate Burton on Swanigan out of the gate....obvious mismatch and everyone knew it, Painter even talked about it.

hell of an effort, just not our night and can't spot them that many, just sucks....that Purdue team is EXACTLY the matchup you want if you are us. Oh well, fun year, somebody gotta lose in this thing. Hopefully, they can surprise next year.

In hindsight I wonder if we shouldn't have just kept going to him at the top of the key at the end, Swanigan wasn't quick enough to defend him off the dribble. Seemed like he would either get a bucket at the rim or be fouled. Who knows though, I just hate seeing the season end.

At 19 down, I suspect most, if not all Cyclone fans were at the point of giving up. That comeback was breathtaking! I couldn't be prouder of their refusal to give up. Now I'm just sad it's over. It's been a fun, crazy, frustrating, exhilarating year! Thanks Cyclones, especially the seniors. You'll be missed.

those star ratings systems look great on paper....but time will tell. i wish someone could tell me specifically how SP makes this team better. I really honestly do....I wanna believe!
I'm pretty critical of his coaching and I think he can be criticized for tonight but give it a break dude.

Had the team play defense when they were lacking identity offensively. Turned out it was a reason they won games.

Has players--and got them to buy in to--playing specific roles that contribute heavily to the team in a non-statistical way.

Nothing to do with basketball, but gets choked up telling a player in front of 14,000 people how much that player has grown as a player and person, which, if I were that player, I'd take with me no matter where I ended up.

big man using those words on your ******* keyboard. very brave.

After that game I would love to have you standing right in front of me right now.
It's one of my favorites, calling someone an Internet tough guy, then follow it up with a classic Internet tough guy statement.

Yes, Prohms been coasting on all those recruiting classes in the 40s that have been assembled with all these McDonalds AAs for him.

Also, shoot to @CycloneRulzzz for making the GameDay thread all year. Dude is the real MVP.

Happy to do it, it's been another fun *** ride.

Few special shoutouts to several of the regulars who chime in on my op's @stormchaser2014 @BBHMagic @Bryce7 @MuseumFaux @RedDog @CRcyclone6 @Cyclonepride @cyclone101 @carvers4math just to name a few but appreciate everyone this season who given a like here or there.

@SCyclone @NWICY @Bestaluckcy for their posts of gratitude. @GTO and @CoKane for the contributions they bring to the thread.

And to mostly everyone that participates in these gameday threads. I don't go to many other message boards but I think what we do here would match any other college boards.

Let's appreciate all these seniors did for our university and fan base.

To the guys returning and new players coming in this train doesn't stop rolling. Take the foundation led by this senior class and let's go for a 7th straight trip to the Big Dance next year!

Strategy note.....

We should have played smaller all game, especially when Swannigan was on the bench. At one point they had Haas in there as their only big - I think we should have gone small with Burton at the 5, but instead we had Bowie in there. With Bowie in the game Haas had someone that he could actually guard. If Bowie was out and Burton was our 5 we would have forced them to pull Haas or have Haas try to stop Bowie 1 on 1 on offense. Burton was guarding Haas anyway, so defensively it wouldn't have been any different.

We must have been watching different games. In the game I watched, Burton was sleep-walking through the entire first half and the start of the second. He was a stationary object out there. We were playing 4 on 5. When Prohm (finally) sat him, we made a run and got back in the game. When Burton feels like playing, he dominates a game. When he was out there walking around, he was killing us. I will be super happy to no longer see him in a Cyclone uniform. It really makes me wonder about Prohm that he will leave a guy out there who isn't playing hard. There's no greater sin in basketball than not playing hard.

Amazing (and somewhat depressing) how a season ending loss will bring out the trolls on this board.
