It's not a false dilemma at all. And the only strawman argument I see is this idea that Hoiberg's teams couldn't win on the road which is contrary to the numbers.
This team is better defensively then any team we have had in recent memory. Without Cam I think they will continue to struggle with post-defense and limiting offensive rebounds in conference play....which will effect their defensive efficiency.
The choice is to construct a better defense should be lauded but we have struggled time and again in late-game situations to get good looks...much less make them. Once again we had six possessions in the last 3 minutes after taking a 66-64 lead and we got 4 points and turned the ball over on two of those possessions and then Nick's decision in the last few seconds.
You’re letting your tendency to see everything as either pro-Fred or anti-Fred distort your comprehension.
It’s a false dilemma. You can play better defense than Hoiberg era teams while not having a slide in late game offense or rebounding.
There you go again with the strawman. No one made the contention that Fred couldn’t win on the road, but rather he didn’t do it at the level to win conference titles or make runs in the NCAA tournament. Contrary to the numbers? Lol, it’s amusing you are so pro-Fred you thought someone said either Fred didn’t have a single road win or that Prohm has done better. That’s the only things the numbers refute, but no one made those claims. I thank you for supporting my contention about the mediocre road performance by providing the records. Hopefully Prohm gets the defense and rebounding to be consistent enough to have a better road record than Hoiberg.
The construction of a better defensive team has come with time and again struggling in late game situations? This is the only team constructed that way, and there has only been one late game situation. Good grief man, take the Hoiberg jersey off. It’s been one game and Hoiberg had plenty of the same struggles we had last night.
