No he's getting offers because he's a good prospect and won't be a 2 star when it's all said and done.

Did you bother to read my whole point. Was using this guy as an example. I believe I even stated that I liked this guy and think he will be a good player. Next time so you understand I'll change the name to John smith to avoid your confusion.

Just a question for all you guys that probably know more than me. With a guy like Dakota Allen (two star prospect lots of offers) is it possible that he is getting all these offers because either this year or next there is a big time recruit from his school and the university thinks have tis guy will help bring that other guy? Not that I don't want this guy alone looks like a very solid player but just a general question.

I highly doubt it. Say John Smith is friends with Joe Blow. John Smith is a marginal at best player, but best friends with Joe Blow, who is a highly ranked prospect. I don't think that any coach in their right mind would offer John just to get to Joe. If it doesn't work out in your favor, you are stuck with a guy that is sitting on the bench using up a scholly that could have gone to someone better.

You offer John because you feel like he can help your team, not just because he knows someone that you have a slim chance of getting.

The rating system on Rivals isn't perfect and kids are misjudged all the time, and rankings are readjusted just as much. Like others have said, I think Dakota's rating will be adjusted in due time.

You would have to be a ****** and desperate school to recruit and kid just for the off chance of getting his friend.

Sometimes (more often than you would think), when there is a good player on a team, coachws notice anothe rplayer on the video who catches their eye. I think that's the case with this guy:
Micquell Cotton - Yahoo! Sports

It's been well documented the same thing happened with Niang, and Aaron Horne a few years ago. In Horne's case, the coaches went to watch Jantz and figured out that Horne was his main target.

Sort of reminds me of USC giving Romeo Miller (Lil Romeo) a spot on the basketball team because they wanted his friend DeMar DeRozan.

Update on west coast recruiting..... Iowa State has offered American Canyon, California, RB Jomon Dotson. The guy is pretty fast. He has been timed at 10.7 in the 100, this Spring (listed at 4.45 in the 40). Iowa State coaches have also stopped by Inderkum High School (in the Sacremento area) to watch and evaluate QB, C J Spencer. He actually passed for 1921 yards, 21 TDs (with 5 INTs), while running out of a "wing T" offense....

I know I am pretty new here, but I have been following recruits on twitter for the past few months, including Tommy Mister. This being said, I would say from past tweets and especially one today that tagged Lazard that said "Me and @Allenlazard about to do work at the NFTC camp #cyclONEnation" I would say we have a 95% chance of getting this kid, unless we totally **** ourselves. Not quite the time to pop the bubbly but he said he would make his decision in about 7 weeks, totally excited to see this kid in cardinal and gold

You quoted Tommy Mister wrong... All he said was "Me and @AllenLazardabout to do work at the NFTC Camp"

Lazard was the one that added the #cyclONEnation when he Re-tweeted it.
