***Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread***

Dano is a good young centerman/winger with a lot of skill. Most think he will be a top 6 guy. Anisimov is a HUGE center at 6'4". Probably a 3rd line guy. It really, really sucks losing Saad but it sounded like he wanted 6.65/year for six years...something Stan clearly couldn't do. I think it was the right move to get some pieces in return rather than lose him and get a few picks down the road. Tomorrow will be an interesting day with FA starting.

I wonder if this means Sharp is staying. My head says that we can't afford to lose two top six wingers but sharps contract would still be nice to get out from under, especially with the emergence of Teuvo.

Still think Sharp and probably Bickell will be dealt. Might have to eat some $$$ on the Bickell deal though.

If the Sharp rumors this spring were true, I don't see how he isn't dealt. In fact, I can't believe he stayed the rest of the season if the rumors were true. Hoping they weren't, but seemed to be some strong opinions on it.

Bickell needs to be dealt for sure, his contract was based on a monster playoff and he hasn't quite produced since then. Sharp definitely declined this past year but could still be a valuable part of the team if the rumors about him last year weren't true.

If the rumors aren't true, it would be nice to keep him till he retires. If true, ship him. I agree.

Everything I have heard after that came out was it was false. My guess is that they keep Sharp. No one wants his contract and what the Hawks want in return is a ton.

I do like the signing of Panarin's teammate today. He was a first rounder in 08 and played with with Artemi. Panarin is going to be a stud. I've watched him a lot and his skill is incredible. I am not sure if he can completely replace Saad next year but he won't be much of a fall off. Only one year older too.

If it was false, and it may very well have been, I hope they keep Sharp. His career is winding down and it would be nice to keep him a Hawk. If that rumor was true, it's a miracle they kept the locker room together.

Really sad to see Saad go, kid will be a beast. That said some of what they got back is intriguing and we knew this year was going to be tough.

I really wish one of these leagues with a salary cap would provide incentive for teams to keep home grown talent. I think they could easily do this by providing a cap discount of like 20%. So in this case let's say Saad wanted $6.5 million. The Hawks because they drafted him would be able to sign him for 6.5m but his cap hit would only be $5.2m. Also Kane and Toews cap hits would come down $2m each. Teams shouldn't be punished for being smart in the draft and being able to develop players. Like wise players shouldn't be punished by having to take discounts to stay where they want to play. Supposedly Saad was devastated by the news, and potentially there was a communication breakdown between him, his agent and the Hawks. Which is just really sad.

Anyway this is the American sports landscape today.

Wow, this is the first place I saw this. Thoughts on the trade?

Don't like that we had to give up Johns but probably had to for the Stars to take ALL of Sharp's money. Stars also picking up half of Garbutt money.

Quote's from Bowman:

Bowman on Daley: "Having somebody on the back end that can score at that rate is a nice weapon to have." #Blackhawks

Bowman on Garbutt: "You hate playing against him, but you like having a guy like him on your team. He can agitate with the best of them."

Stan Bowman: "Will we do other things? I guess it’s possible. Had a lot of discussions over the last few weeks." #Blackhawks

Stan Bowman: "We’re getting closer to a point where we can say this is officially our team, but we’re not there yet." #Blackhawks

Stan Bowman: "It's always tough to give up young defensemen. Sometimes it’s required in order to make a deal." #Blackhawks

Bowman on trading Sharp in the division: "That cuts both ways. Dallas is trading us 2 players off their team they’ll have to play against."

#Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman calls chances to bring back defenseman Johnny Oduya a "fluid situation."

Looks like Garbutt is from Winnipeg, so there's another Winnipeger in the lineup. Also funny that we traded an alternate for an alternate in Sharp-Daley.
