Can you remember the last time they had a back that didn't pan out? Iowa is essentially a sure thing for RBs :Jimlad:

They all seem to "pan out"... Early. I think their last solid RB was Shawn Greene.

We've had solid RB's. Unfortunately, we haven't had the Oline to complement them.

Ozigbo would be a big time get, hopefully get the recruiting traction going again

Ozigbo is the only target for RB it appears. IMO, we get him. And we look good for several other targets as well. This is going to be a small class. Maybe 15 is all.

Iowa's 247 guy just changed his prediction for Devine Ozigbo to ISU. Says it's based on information and not on a gut feeling.

He's the only back we would take this class and is a bigger back that ISU has been looking for.

Ayeni is his lead guy I think and pulled him in even though he got a very late start on him.

Looks like the new recruiting hires are paying off a bit.

Ozigbo is announcing his commitment on July 22. It appears that ISU is now the favorite. The ironic part of it all is that Ozigbo decided to visit Iowa in June and then decided to take a visit to ISU as well while on that trip. He had a great visit and hit it off with the coaches. RB Coach Ayeni has done a great job as a recruiter.

I've followed his recruitment. I was referring to the 247 predictions. This Iowa guy does claim to have at least one if not more proven, legitimate source(s) saying he's positively going to ISU. Of course all the Iowa fans are coming up with every possible excuse why he'd choose not to go there. The Iowa insider is rebuffing their claims that Iowa backed off. He said the coaches have been all over him up until now. It's pretty hilarious and sickening at the same time.

I have been watching that as well. ISU wasn't really a factor until around June 23 when Ozigbo visited ISU after going to visit Iowa. We had offered him late and he decided to check us out. It will be especially satisfying if he commits and it was because of a visit he made to us because he had decided to check out Iowa on a visit.

He is quoted as saying exactly that.

He said he probably wouldn't have visited ISU if he wasn't already visiting Iowa.

I think he went to Iowa for Friday/Saturday and was just going to stop by ISU, but ISU and Ayeni impressed him so much he stayed overnight and checked everything out proper.

yep. Sounds like Devine Ozigbo has 32 offers. People should be giddy about his commit.

They didn't want him anyway.

Kinda like when Barkley Hill decommitted from ISU?

No excuses to be made from Hawk fans, really. Ozigbo was a top 3 RB target of ours and didnt get him. The ones that are saying "we didnt want him", or things like that, are really a bad vocal minority. Fortunately, Iowa has done well in the past couple years with RB recruits, so when its still a bummer that we didnt (wont) get him, we still have some good guys at the position that will (hopefully) pan out. The key is to keep them healthy

A backfield of Warren and Ozigbo a couple of years down the road would be wonderful. The WR position is trending upward, a couple of promising QBs in the fold... The potential is there for Mangino. Ozigbo would be a wonderful piece to add for him.
