If the 76ers ever make a championship, I feel like they will become villains. They aren’t the result of some innovative “process”. The Royals
trusted the process 10 years before Philly did. And Embiid seems dumb to me rather than charismatic.
They'll be seen as villains because the media as well as coaches, owners, and even the NBA themselves are already painting them as villains with the whole "how dare they lose at historic levels for years" attitude. Sure, others have tried it, such as the Royals, but it took them, what - 30 years for them to be relevant? It may not be a new concept to tank at the level the Sixers did, but it doesn't mean it's not a gigantic gamble because the draft is never a sure thing, even if you're always drafting in the first 3 picks. I mean, look at T-Wolves, Kings, and the Clippers through the '80s, '90s, and much of the '00s. The "uniqueness" in what the Sixers have done is it seems to have paid off in spades, and they turned their franchise around much quicker than most teams do in the intentionally tanking process.
And be honest (intelligence aside) - the reason why you hate Embiid because he was a J-hok that was nothing but a splinter in the ass of our Cyclones.
