What are our real needs for graduate a graduate transfer? Do we want a point guard, a three or a four, what are our real needs?

If a spot does open up, I thought we were going after Harris and not a transfer? If the Harris ship has sailed, I could see signing a grad transfer SG.

If a spot were open, I'd like to think about replacing NWB,LW and Shayok after next season. A good sit out guard would be perfect for that season.
Hopefully THT and Halliburton can fill that role with Lewis. However, if another Shayok comes on the market and we have room, then I agree getting that player would be nice.

I don't think the staff will look to add a grad transfer.

Any grad transfer worth using a scholarship on will want major starting time and will have a lot of options. NWB, Wigginton, Shayok, THT, Lewis and Long will have enough difficulty getting minutes. I actually would be concerned with the staff's confidence in next years team if they are major players in that market.

I trust Prohm to develop Lewis's, THT's, Shayok's outside shooting and shore up that perceived weakness in house. I'm not worried about balancing classes, that will workout with normal attrition over the next couple of years.
Not Long's though?

More from above:

"Barta said there is wide support in his committee for two changes he expects to take effect by this fall regardless of whether the full rule change is ready — students will no longer need their university’s permission to transfer, and the university cannot block them from getting financial aid at their new school. In the past, a coach could create a list of schools, typically rivals, where an athlete couldn’t transfer and remain on scholarship.

The new rule mandates “an accountability both ways,” Barta said.

Barta said NCAA data show that an athlete who transfers schools has a lower likelihood of graduating. The new rule would address that by ensuring that only students with a certain GPA — probably well above 3.0 — and enough coursework completed to be on track to graduate on time would be allowed to transfer and play immediately. Those details are still being worked out."

"“We haven’t gotten into, how would we grandfather it in. The goal is to have it set by June, but we haven’t talked about, would that apply to everybody immediately or would it apply starting Aug. 1?”

Barta’s committee meets again in April to further clarify how the rule would work. The full NCAA council would vote in June."

Emmert, in his never ending quest to sooth Hawkeye spirits, left out one quote by Barta during the Q&A session- "Of course, we don't need such rule changes at the University of Iowa. We have a coach that is building our program the right way". He reportly said this with a straight face.

Seems like the "sit" part of this equation could be changing in June too, so that should be factored in. Seems more likely than not from what I've read if the player has been good academically.

Possible. Hard to count on that though when planning on how to distribute years and when a player will be eligible considering the best Transfers will commit in April and May. The NCAA is far from dependable with their timing on actions, Considering the gravity of the decision the NCAA postpone the decision quite easily.

Now this is a familiar Name, Parker Stewart. ISU recruited him last summer and was in his final 3 with a visit planned before he went to PITT..

@GoodmanESPN Pittsburgh freshman Parker Stewart has asked for his full unconditional release, sources told ESPN. Terrific shooter. Averaged 9.1 points per game. Finished in top two in ACC play in 3's made, first in 3-point field goal percentage and top 3 in 3's made per game.

ISU recruited him last spring. Was supposed to visit Ames but that fell through.

Similar game to Terrence Lewis. Knockdown three point shooter. I'd think we'd be looking for a more dynamic do it all combo guard to pair with Wigginton in '19/'20 but who knows what Prohm and staff are looking for.

I say we go after PG grad transfer (player like Kendall Smith from Okie State). Move NWB back to PG/SG, and Wigginton to SG. Shayok play 3 and Lard at 4/5. It's always nice to have two PGs play at the same time. No?
