Mid majors also get a lot of transfers from high major schools looking for more playing time, so they benefit from transfers as well.

Clayton Custer is not a grad transfer but I am pretty sure Loyola is not sad to take him as a transfer. So your quote is spot on. It all works it's way out in the end.

It does, but I just think about how much it would suck to lose your best player, right before he's set to have his best season. If Iowa St was a mid major, and they lost Morris or Niang before their senior year, that would really suck.

If we then had Joel Berry or Miles Bridges transfer in, I think we'd survive. That's what we're talking about at a different level. You're losing a fringe P5 player and probably gaining a fringe P5 player at roughly the same rate.

Well we lost Marcus Fizer or we would possibly had a shot at a National title. It's all relative to be honest. If we lose our best guy. It normally means he is going pro or to Syracuse.

What is Auburn going to do? Tell the NCAA they are blocking his transfer unless he pays the money back?

I believe they already fired the AD. I am surprised Pearl is still there but he is close to a preemptive jump or even charges being presented...
The school is going to distance themselves from all the players in question in anyway possible. Auburn wouldn't take the money at this point to maintain deniability.
