Javan White - Grad Transfer from Oral Roberts (Ames High Grad) - 2 years of eligibility left. 6'10" - very athletic - Averaged about 11 pts - 9 reb.

  • javanwhite25After a time of praying and discussing with my family over spring break, the door has been opened and I have decided to transfer from ORU after I graduate this May. I am thankful for the opportunity I got to pursue an education as well as play the game I love. I am excited about the new opportunity this will present to me and I believe that the best is yet to come.

Intriguing, I'm aware he still has family in Ames. He had 14 points and 11 rebounds against K-State earlier on in the year. With a year to develop more, I think he could turn into a nice player.

Did he really grow 2" between freshman and sophmore years?

Decent stats but 5-19 from 3 for a season is really rough for a 6’1 guard.

That percentage isn't good, but can you really judge someone on 19 attempts in an entire year?

Agree.
Both have limited samples, but he may be a better 3P shooter than Jacobson or Young.

He might be a Jacy Holloway type guard. Halliburton will be a sophomore at that point. I think we can get a better freshman point guard like EJ Liddell. Kid should go to Iowa.

I have a hard time making any conclusions on Lucas who played limited minute in a season with a new coach granted 5-19 isn't promising. The situation wasn't great and it appears is was in Underwood in doghouse from the start as evidenced by a December suspension.
We do know that ISU is looking at a sit out guard preferably one who can handle the ball from the early targets identified. Te’Jon top 130 PG from Milwaukee (ISU has had success there) with multiple high major offers coming out of HS 2 years ago. He would fit the profile of someone who could interest the staff.
I am very intrigued by Carr (PITT) especially with 3 years to play left and I am sure well hear of more names shortly.

Te’Jon Lucas shouldn't be the priority of the staff, but could be an option.

Carr would be my top choice early on too. Pass on Te'jon Lucas and Don Coleman as of now. The Syracuse transfer is an intriguing option but he's not a guard. Will likely have a lot of front court experience as well in 19-20. Makes sense to target a sit-out guard.

The good thing is that as of now we don’t have to take a flyer on anyone. Last year we did because that idiot freshman screwed us over and the juco picked Unlv. If we don’t get anyone, it doesn’t matter.
