Unfortunate timing for the first heat wave of the year. Mid 90s at minimum much at next week. Maybe the exception on Monday. Heat index is a very real issue with 100+ beginning Wednesday.

Stay safe everyone.

Posting model temps a week out is just as smart as posting snowfall forecasts a week out but...OH DEAR GOD

Also some things I love about this. There are two large lakes you can easily see as anomalies to its surroundings. Winnebago in Wisconsin between the 99 and 94 and what I believe is Mille Lacs in Minnesota just NW of the 97.

I ended up in the ER last week for heat exhaustion and dehydration. It gave me such horrible anxiety I thought I was dying.
Happened to me at least 5 years back and I haven’t fully recovered from it. Still sweat like a crazy man when it’s hot and can’t control my body temperature nearly as well as I used to. Hopefully you don’t have any lasting issues!

I know they can't do this, but it would be nice if they could postpone RAGBRAI. The heat will be absolutely brutal. I'm afraid there will be some deaths next week.

That ames-des moines day will be brutal. Combine the excessive heat with it being an above-average drinking day even for ragbrai, and combined with it being the day that a lot of less trained riders will choose to do "just one day on", and the safety folks are going to have their hands full

Positive being it's August soon and the humidity usually drops and then it's into fall for perfect sleeping weather.

Of course except for the Saturday or two that it turns into typical July heat right around game time.

GFS has horrid mixing problems right now. Way too dry. I think it's saying something insane like 115 now for Thursday

I do think a few places could reach 100 Thu in southern/central Iowa though. It'll be a hot one.

Thanks, man. I still get dizzy once in a while. Do you still get that?
That’s mainly gone away. I sweat so bad when I exercise now that I need to be drinking water and electrolyte drinks pretty much round the clock. I also get hungover after one beer now so I pretty much don’t drink anymore. My body couldn’t cope with the heat then so now it overreacts when exposed to it now in an effort to save itself (how I look at it).
