I didn't think we were supposed to get rain today or tomorrow, but it's been going at it for a few hours now, complete with thunder & lightning. (NW Twin Cities - Otsego) Forecast is also showing possibility again tomorrow.

It's coming. Initial forecasts for the JT legacy game are a high of 60 for the day with a low of 44 during the game. Football weather! As people like to say.
My WHO TV weather app is calling for a high of 73 for next Saturday's TCU game (for whatever that's worth, which probably isn't much).

Breaking down and turning the air back on, my house at 89 will not be that comfortable to return to.

I had no clue it was supposed to rain in the TC as well. Was awakened overnight by the storms. Over 1/2" of rain so far with some more spotty showers still around this morning

Don’t need AC in the house today. But the AC in our combine better work today.
As dusty as it is outside can you leave the windows open? I could look at dark backgrounds last evening (a pine grove) and see crap blowing thru the air about an hour before sunset.. My wife would not appreciate the dust. I am old and have never seen that before without an evident source. Guessing bean dust from miles away. Its dry.

On this date in 1984 a record low of 28 was set in Des Moines.

On this date in 1985 Des Moines recorded a trace of snow. One of only two times in recorded history that has happened in September.

The next year on the 28th of September 1986, multiple tornado's hit Iowa with one causing over 2 million dollars worth of damage in Polk and Jasper counties.

What a difference year(s) make.

Thunder woke me up around 4am this morning in Minneapolis. Consistent rain since then and it was heavy for a while, too

Temp record in Twin Cities. The cancelled Twin Cities Marathon.

Second day in a row that CR broke the temp record. It was also the first time during the month of September that there was not a single high below 70 recorded here.

I would encourage everyone to sign up to be a CoCoRahs reporter, especially in rural areas. Free and extremely easy to report with the app. The data is used for a number of uses including NWS forecasts/reports.

Would that make me then just as "official" as the Des Moines airport? If my backyard rain gauge reports 5 inches, but the airport gets nothing......what goes in the "official" record?

Latest KCRG forecast this morning says 59 for a high on Saturday, after dropping to 39 overnight Friday.

Whatever you do, don’t tell your friends you report, otherwise you may get a lot of yellow rain at 2 in the morning.

No but it will in the data gaps for hydrology and drought forecasts among other things. The official reporting points are fairly set and cannot be moved for data continuity reasons.

Middle of June…..I forgot that it was a cool start to summer.
Cool and wet! My yard/grass/landscaping had an amazing early summer. Then it didn't rain for like 6 weeks. Then two weeks of 70's and rain every other day woke everything up, put it all back to high growth stage, only to then get hit with another 4+ weeks of 90's and no rain. It's been a rough one!
