Better to be safe than sorry then for next year. People were already upset at the Tucker trade last winter because of the possibility of a 1 year rental.

I've seen Cassie play numerous times at Iowa and I'm not seeing why he's so invaluable. He's not even close to the ceiling of a guy like Tucker.
Caissie reminds me of Stowers from Miami. All around pretty damn solid, but probably not a super star.

Probably won’t happen but I’d love to use Castro’s flexibility and replace Turner with Ballestareos as the primary PH and backup 1B.
Turner’s value to this team goes beyond what he does on the field. Berti and McGuire will be the odd men out.

You don’t have to pretend that Kittredge and Rogers are no good just because they aren’t elite closers. Two guys who have long track records of being good relievers.
Other contending teams added top tier players but we are settling for cheaper options. Cubs sucked for 100+ years not because of the curse of Billy Goat. We sucked for 100+ years because our past management was not committed to winning.

And what is his off field value?
A wealth of baseball knowledge and a glue guy in the clubhouse. He goes out of his way to make sure guys are getting together and bonding off the field. A number of his former teammates (Jaren Duran for one) consider him to be their mentor. It would be a real hit to lose him.
