Basically with some of these idiots. It's win every game or you suck.

And with some, if you don't get a participation ribbon for close games they lose their ****. You wanna be a top 25 program? No moral victories. This was a loss. On to the next one and hopefully learn from it. For 15 minutes they played GREAT basketball.

One of the reasons they shot so well is because they passed so well. Didn't last the whole game, but still, it was impressive.

Plus, that Sasquatch down low creates all sorts of problems. Gonzaga is an easy Final Four favorite. They're for real. Nothing against ISU. They could've won, but the loss will not hurt them at all.
Yup. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the opposition for playing well. That was certainly the case today.

Umm, every top 25 program has losses along the way.
That doesn't make it a moral victory. It's just a step along the way, unless you're 1976 Indiana.

For too many (and me when I slip into it): Be Fred Hoiberg.
It's not right. It's not fair, but that's the price of following a local legend.

This isn't directed at anyone specifically but just a general observation. I don't think we would have cranked up the defense for a half the way we did under Hoiberg.I love Fred but Prohm is doing just fine. I was little surprised we got away from getting the ball into Burton but those things happen during the flow of a game.

Issue being that there are a plethora of bad losses on Hoiberg's watch, including his last one ever at ISU.

I remember how funny it was last year after ISU lost to OU in the B12 tourney and people held that against Prohm, like Fred just cruised through it every year.

I DO think Fred was at his best in late game offensive plays, but otherwise Prohm has been fine.

Darn right. We wouldn't have. Fred talked about it, but it wasn't his thing.
But Fred is Fred, and most of us (me included) don't see through our man crush on Fred and those dreeeeeeamy blue eyes.

Okay should I read through this thread or not? Will I feel more sane or will I lose faith in fellow Cyclones?

I was only able to follow this thread, and I was under the impression that the season was indeed over at a few points.

My only hope is the players weren't following it while they were playing.

Of course it was a loss. But as fans (you do realize you are not a player or coach, right?) we are allowed to talk about the good points of the game and the good things we saw.

Let me know when the players call this a moral victory. I bet this loss stings them more than if they would have lost by 20. At least then you don't have the "what ifs". Losses happen. Instead of ******** about it like you seem to be doing tonight, the players and coaches will watch the game tape, figure out what went wrong and try to correct it in practice while you sit on your ass eating Doritos waiting for the next Cyclone game so you can go online and ***** about it when they have their first turnover.

Screw that. I'm not waiting for a turnover.

No one is giving out participation ribbons. They played damn well to get to the point where they had a chance to win. Part of the reason they had to do that was that they didn't play great earlier. The other part was Gonzaga being on fire for the first 24 minutes.

No one wanted that one more than the guys on the floor. For that, I will happily give them credit.

That's cute. I am not faulting the players at all. They played their asses off to get back into it. I am ******** about fans not wanting to hear any criticism over the play calling in the last three minutes and especially the last 8 seconds. It is okay to think end of game management could have went better but posters like you have had too many participation ribbons given out to understand that there are things you can learn from and take to the next game. Good effort from you though, put it on your ribbon shelf.

You sure seem to know a lot about participation ribbons, Sparky.

Like I said the players AND COACHES will review the tape, figure out what's wrong and try to fix it. Your armchair criticism of them for taking the #11 team to the wire I'm sure will be duly noted though.

Sorry that hurt your feelings. Let's call it a night. I think we both realize this team will move on. I'll get my Doritos and wait for Cincy.

No hurt feelings. We're 5-1, not 5-1*. You seem to be the only one upset about this non-existent moral victory.

Try switching to cooler ranch. I think nacho cheese makes you grumpy.

i will definitely do that. I was only upset that some think there is no room for criticism as long as it was a "good loss." I just forget how sensitive some of you are. Cool ranch it is.
