3 Turnovers, 2 ejections, 7 false starts, some dropped passes and missed tackles. We didn't play clean enough to deserve that win.

Tough for the 85 Bears to have a stat line like that and pull off a win.

Missed opportunities. Part of the growing process. Our Cyclones went toe to toe with another heavyweight and didn't look outclassed.

We didn't need any magic or the ghost of Marv Seiler to hang with them. Folks, we have a program

Ben Bruns was actually praising the play of the O-line last night, saying they had made big strides last night compared to their play earlier in the year. (false starts aside)

The DM and HB announcement wait is on.
I'm going to really miss those guys. Will be nice to have people to cheer for on Sundays. I just hope they don't get kidnapped by the ******* Packers or Vikings. I feel so bad for AL.

Other than the final score, I'd say the Alamo Bowl was a huge success for Iowa State. Coaches, players and our fan base all proved their worth on a big stage. Announcers said that 2/3 of the crowd was Cyclone fans, and I believe the attendance was over 60,000. I'd have to guess that, at the least, we brought over 30k. That will give them more (and better) opportunities in the future.

Largest Alamo Bowl crowd that didn't include a Texas team - 60,750

So we won the party. Was it ever in doubt?
Other fan bases are amazed by fan support that we think is normal.

Just got back from San Antonio a little while ago. Very long and boring drive, but WELL worth it, even with the heartbreaking loss. Had a blast down there.

So I haven't spent the time to read through all of the posts, and I know a lot of people are rightfully complaining about an inept officiating crew, but has anyone spoken much about CMC's call on 3rd and goal from the 7 yard line where he ran Monty up the middle and we had to settle for the FG to make it 20-21.

I thought CMC called a pretty good game overall, but that one was just terrible. I believe it was an RPO, so maybe Purdy made the decision to hand it off, but why even give him that decision in that case? Lob it to Butler, or throw a slant, or roll Purdy out and give him the option to pass or run it in? That was just bad.

I felt we should have went for it on 4th down instead of the chip shot fg. I'm wrong, but what I thought at the time. I also felt we burned our timeouts too early in the second half.

But what about that 3rd down call? Did you like it?

Many people have said this, and it's not true.

65,918 - UCLA vs Kansas State (2015)
65,265 - Ohio State vs Oklahoma State (2004)
62,016 - Nebraska vs Michigan (2005)
60,780 - Purdue vs Kansas State (1998)
60,675 - Iowa State vs Washington State (2018)

I probably didn't mind it because I thought we might be in 4 down territory since we had went for it earlier in the drive. In hindsight a pass play may have been better.

With the loss to WSU, Iowa State dropped to 3-1 in bowl games played on my birthday.

I blame myself. :(

Your good 500. As I'm going through this thread this post make me want to blame on the loss on this: wtf were they thinking. Band played SC before the game. Just asking for the jinx.

The band is playing sweet Caroline. Do they want us to lose?
