Given that ISU was forced to make up every game last year (while Baylor conveniently got 4 games off), undermanned, and was effectively the sacrificial lamb so other teams could pad their win total, I no longer give a **** how many players the opponent has available. Make 'em play.
Interesting. You're right. Why was it that Baylor did not have to make up the 4 lost conference games? They were 13-1 in conference play. We were 0-18 (ugh).

I agree that getting the win is what's important, but I was kind of looking forward to this as a measuring stick game. If TT is missing half the team, including the best players, not so much, other than demonstrating the focus and maturity to bury a short-handed opponent at home.
We can only beat the team that is put on the floor. Think big 10 west in football.

Agreed. I have no memory of ISU basketball last year.
Something is really bothering me with this TT game. Their coach, Mark Adams, has a checkered past. I followed his teams at what was once Pan American, and some bad things happened down there. Adams skated, in my opinion. Won a national championship in juco at Howard (Texas) and saw that team. He is a very good bench coach. He also managed the Lubbock hockey franchise, and they even got in trouble. Then he was a hoops assistant at TT. Always thought his dream job was that head coaching job at Tech, and now here he is. When I see him on the Hilton floor, I always think 'Not in OUR house.'

Getting through covid and the conference season is just going to be part of things. Some teams will get luckier than others. I mean Texas played a KSU team last night with only 7 guys and without their top two coaches. Given that everyone is in the same boat, I don't care how decimated the opponent is. Just get the win because there may come a time when ISU is down guys.

Texas would of been favored in both games regardless, but they're 2-0 with 2 covid aided wins. Is what it is I guess. I think we'll have a good shot at beating them in Hilton in a couple weeks.

This could be one of the few years ever where the conference tournament is a better indicator of the best team in the conference than the regular season was. It should even out but someone could get lucky and have 6 or 7 conference games - or even more - facing short handed opponents.

For the record, I said "could be"...

Last year we had to take like two weeks off in basketball right? But as far as football and this year’s team goes, I’d say it’s a combination of being vaccinated, being disciplined, and being a bit lucky.
This. The mbb team got drilled by covid last year as bad or worse than anyone. Certainly one of the plethora of things that led to 2-22.

Nope. Carver is just a reference point, and it represents the very bottom of the spectrum.
Carver is a glorified sinkhole. It is also quieter than a morgue. They should just fill it in and build something better on top of it.

I remember a game Hoiberg's 1st year where they had to add two football walk-ons to the basketball team because they only had like 6 healthy scholarship players going into a game and 1-2 walk ons.

I hate to consider the 2nd conference game as a must-win, but I think this is a big one. I had no expectation of beating Baylor. TT at home is one to get if a top 4 finish is possible. Cyclones win, 70-62!

Yeah, with the next 2 weeks schedule, this is as close as you can get to a must-win at this point in the year. We just can't start 0-2 at home - and we would be staring down 0-6 if we lose this one.

In case anyone needs a giggle this afternoon...

Id imagine out of those 5 games, most are SWAC teams?

no one gets up for those games so of course there isn't much home court advantage with them.
