Great grit again from the guys to gut that out. They have to be just as frustrated with the offense, but instead of folding they got the job done. Goes down as a great win on the resume no matter how you slice it. Hope we have that random breakthrough offensive night next game. Due for one.
Good toughness on defense.

The biggest thing about this game is this team will be ugly when playing a defense that is allowed to restrict movement. TT was fortunate the refs let everything go for nearly 36 minutes

We also just shot poorly and had unforced errors. We started the 2nd half 1-15. That's just bad regardless of anything.

My biggest disappointment is that the staff made little adjustments. With 4 minutes left in the game we were still running our offense through Conditt 30 feet from the basket. TT is overplaying everything, and could, because the ball was so often in a guy's hands that was in positon to do nothing but dump off.

I think even Steve would have created more space for IB and/or gotten Enaruna on a big.

But when people say we don’t deserve to win then that’s BS. We won cause we played better than Tech.
If people want to ***** that we are lucky to win cause Tech shot FTs bad, than Baylor was also lucky to win because we shot 3s 1-1/14.
We have offensive issues. But Tech has very good D, and our offensive talent level is just not that great. It’s TJs 1st year, and we were picked to finish last in B12. We can only get so much with the players we currently have.
We absolutely deserved to win, so agree with your first point. The bolded I do not think you can use that crutch anymore. This is basically a new team, so people were just going off of last year to pick us last. It's very clear that the new guys are much better than anyone could have imagined and they are nowhere near the last-place team in this league just from their defensive play alone.

At this point, you have to go with the information we have this season. And not a single person would vote this team 10th or even 8th or 9th after the non-conference. We clearly have the players to be a good team. If TJ and co. can just get the offense to 5-10% better this team is very good.

Some very very concerning things there, hopefully tj can look at a film and be self critical, unlike our last guy.

wow. There are some big lessons to be taken out if this.

I hope one lesson is that the coaching takes from tonight is the need to scheme against aggressive, man defense with some well executed back cuts. Need to find a way make teams pay for being so aggressive and disruptive on the perimeter.

Thankfully, next two opponents, OU and KU are 30th and 55th in defensive efficiency, vs 5th and 6th in Baylor and TTU.

No offense, but we’re you in a coma since the Sweet 16 team? Because Prohm would have made exactly 0 adjustments. It was pretty much his MO.

It's like they knew to play as sound as possible. It's weird what having that kind of limit does for a group.
Right, they were razor sharp. Extremely focused. Not sure if you can even make the argument that they would've played a whole lot better with their full fleet. Hopefully getting their guys back lowers their guard a little bit

I honestly don't think ISU has the speed or length for those back cuts.

Perhaps they do it to clear out the wing defender but open shots are just going to be hard to come by and when they're there, this team in general struggles to finish at the rim.

It probably will be an ugly game in general. This team struggles to blow teams out, but they appear to be a team that doesn’t gets blown out as well.

Its going to be hard to blow anyone out in this conference. It’s not like they didn’t blow out some decent teams in the non con (Iowa, Xavier, Memphis….)

All I know is we got a conference win over a top-25 team. The way the schedule is built and what we did in the non-conference, getting 7 conference wins likely does it for getting into the dance. That's 1 down and 6 to go, then it's gravy after that.

As long as we get into the tournament we will absolutely be a team nobody wants to see considering the defense we have.

9 of 10 Big 12 conference teams are in the top 40 in defensive efficiency. Interestingly, KU is the "worst" at 55th.... just lots of salty defense in the Big 12 this year.

Just was very disappointed seeing the lack of adjustments on offense and the stubbornness to stick with the lazy screens and handoffs at the top of the key with limited off ball movement. I get that this team is somewhat limited on offense, but that's when you need your coaching staff to be able to draw something up to get a good look.

That said, happy to break the B12 losing streak and Brockington and Jaz stepped up big time. Love those two.

Welcome to conference play and the scouting that comes with it. We’re gonna learn a lot about TJ’s coaching in the next 2 months. That being said…it’s a W in the toughest conference in the country so I’ll take it without complaint.
