It has always been my assertion that Rhoads couldn't pick an offensive coordinator (outside of the guy who EVERYONE knew was a great OC when Rhoads picked him - Hermann was actually on my list of possible coaches when Rhoads was hired). Yet Rhoads knew how to manage a game. This is something that Campbell has yet to learn how to do. Rhoads would also have had the team ready to play in the first game (something I feel Campbell neglected to do in game 1, and to a lesser degree in game 2).

In any case, the rest of the season is yet to be written. If the improvements made in week3 and now week 4 continue, then I will be very impressed with Campbell and staff. As it stands right now, I see positives with Campbell's staff, and a few areas where Rhoads and his staff would have made better choices. For me, the jury is still out, but it has become a very close race.

Wow, i cant even....

My Take:
They look at the Baylor fumble/TD from an endzone cam, Cyclones are still up by 7 points with 3 second left.

Disappointed that the Cyclones couldn't mount a drive late in the game. That too could have won the game for us.

Defense... non existent for the most part.

If Rhoads were coach: Win vs UNI. Probably a win vs SJSU. Given a decent offensive coordinator, Rhoads wins today. Still believe that Campbell MAY become a good coach coaching staff. Disappointed they have taken so long to show up like they did in the first three quarters today.
Did you actually watch any Paul Rhodes games? No way we would have won if he was here. We would have gone up 21-7 like we did with Campbell, shut down for no apparent reason like we've done the last 3 seasons under him with a lead against a good team, and would lose by a score of something like 42-24

After a very long day between the game, driving home, and chaperoning a homecoming dance I finally can post! I thought it was an incredible effort for the Clones despite the disappointing end. We obviously got very winded in the 4th quarter but the team left everything on the field and that is all that we as fans can ask for. If before 11 am you thought we would get in a shootout with Baylor and had a chance to win the game with 5 minutes to play, you are lying. This team took a complete 180 since the UNI game and I couldn't be more excited to see what else we can do this season.

Secondly, Baylor players are entitled tools. Did anyone see Seth Russell grab the referee because the ref was stopping play so ISU can sub? Whether the ref was right or wrong no player should EVER be allowed to grab a referee. After the game, 48 (who did nothing to help Baylor win) taunted the fans and was taking selfies of our fans emptying out (no clue how he had his phone). Screw Baylor. I look forward to them sinking to mediocrity and beyond in the coming years.

One of the disappointments for me was I expected us to be running crazy in the 4th, as the Baylor defense had to be gassed as well right, it's not like we weren't gashing them for 3 quarters. With what we had done the first 3 quarters, I thought Warren was due for a mammoth finish in the 4th.

Warren could have if he had caught that screen pass. "A"players need to have "A" games.

Is it possible that your expectations are a wee bit high? He had a very good game...yet you focus on the one dropped pass? Maybe he would have caught that pass if he hadn't had so many large bodies falling on him the first three quarters...

Football should just be shut down if expecting your starting RB to catch a screen pass is too high of expectations.

I suggest you read the post I was responding to. I feel his criticism was overblown.

Yes, under most circumstances he should have caught that pass. However, focusing on ONE dropped pass when he spent the first three quarters gaining a large share of our yardage WAS being unrealistic.

He did have a good game. My response was to a poster who thought he was due to a "mammoth" finish. If he had caught a routine screen pass it would have been for a first down which would have extended the drive which would have given Warren more touches.

Warren is a big part of the offense and it's no coincidence that the 2 games Warren did well the offense exploded. It is not critical to expect Warren to make those kind of plays at those crucial times of the game it is just the state of the team right now. I also not implying we lost because of that dropped pass. But it could have been that "play" that sparked a TD drive.

I stand corrected. I misinterpreted what you wrote, and thought you were being overly critical of one of the bright spots in our offense the past couple of games. I would also add that the O-line did a much better job Saturday than they have been doing - good holes, low TFL percentage. The pieces are coming together, and I'm optimistic that there are at least a couple of wins remaining on the schedule. :)
