This was the targeting call on Young from the conference championship game last year. Shoulder to helmet.

Why wasn't that called when Purdy got the shoulder to the helmet today?
Because the conference wants OSU and OU to be the game of the week? And to try and get one of those teams into the playoffs?

Once you realize most everything is rigged anymore, things make a lot more sense

The throw was late, but Brock had to slide away from a defender. I think Brock thought he had to get it over the LB but when a little to much.

Yeah it was tougher than it looked but still plenty of time after he slid to throw.

A lot of upset players in the postgame show, but it was strange that Campbell seemed very upbeat. Proud of the guys etc. not sure what I wanted to hear but I guess not that. ‍♂️
Because Purdy hadn’t given himself up and wasn’t defenseless. It was a good call not to throw a flag and a really dumb play by Purdy.

They explained it on the telecast. It wasn't targeting, just a hit that every defender dreams of.

Ok let's go with that - it was just a dream hit. I'm ok with it not being called and being an awesome hit. Why wasn't Young's a dream hit a year ago then too instead of having to sit out the WHOLE DAMN GAME?

I still think next year might not be as bad as some think despite everyone we lose. But that question does linger longer than I want in my brain.... if not this team... then who?

Nobody knows, but I’d be surprised if it didn’t just come out of the blue, like Baylor this year. Someone always steps up because they have to, there’s chemistry, good coaching and a few breaks go our way, then bam! Epic season.

The cool part is that I believe Campbell can do it, he can win a conference championship and get to the playoff. Something I couldn’t say with a straight face about any of our other coaches.

The most frustrating thing the more I think about it is that in all of our 5 losses in none of them did I think that the other team was simply the better team… just lots of bad breaks…

hmm Kinda disagree. Today I think OU was the better team. In fact I think most of our losses were to better teams because coaches are part of the team, and that’s where we a losing.

There are two games that we had no business losing. West Virginia and Tech. As I have repeatedly said, before those games Campbell hadn't lost to a conference team that he shouldn't have. The law of averages caught up to us on that.

Baylor and Oklahoma are both very good teams that we COULD have beat and in some ways should have beat, but losing to them is not some huge damnation on the team or the coaches.

Because the ball carrier was defenseless with Young’s hit. This isn’t hard.

Yeah I understand, i really do

But I also think if they REALLY want to protect players every time forcible contact is made to the head or neck or should be targeting. That's the whole intent, right? Train players to not hit their opponent in the head and reduce potential concussions?

If you want to break it down to segments/units of the program...then how would you say ISU's OL did vs OU's d-line? In my opinion...that was the biggest differential on the field today. And I thought the staff did a strong job of covering that difference up as much as possible.

Gotta say I've been encouraged by CMC going for it on 4th down several times the last few games - a couple of years ago I don't think he does it. Too bad the 4 th down plays suck half the time.

There are a lot of things that frustrate me about this season, but I think what is going to get me most, is that we will start hearing the old, "Just can't win at ISU." This won't end up coming down on Campbell and Co. It's going to be about ISU and that isn't fair. Don't get me wrong, I love Campbell, he's the best thing to happen to ISU since Johnny Orr, but come on, this season wasn't about not having the players to compete or not having fan support. This was the best team ISU has had since I can remember.

This team made a ton of stupid mistakes today. Mistakes that have nothing to do with being out talented, it's about lack of focus and that is on the coaches. I have a ton of respect for this staff, for what they have done for ISU. I mean imagine 20 years ago complaining about having to go to a crummy bowl because we were in the Fiesta last year.

But as I said, what gets me, is this is going to be talked about as an ISU thing and that is not fair at all. I mean we are in the 4th Quarter, starting a last minute drive to tie the game and we are out of ******* time outs? Our O-line is getting blown up all day, so what do we do on 3rd or 4th and short, long developing sweeps, pitches and trick plays?

I'm willing to accept this, minus Manning, **** that guy. But don't tell me if this coaching staff were at Ohio State, Michigan or Notre Dame, all of a sudden the little **** that costs us games at ISU isn't going to happen to them at a Blue Blood, just because it's a Blue Blood.

Honestly, I don't see Campbell, where he is now in his ability to coach a game, succeeding at a Blue Blood, he's going to drop a no brainer, have stupid mistakes that cost them in a big game, but all of that is overlooked in coaching searches because, "Well, what do you expect, he's at Iowa State."

Sorry for the rant, but my last thought is this. If CMC does go to another school, for the love of all that is holy, he better take Manning with him. That guy sucks.

Was the difference that Purdy wasn't deemed defenseless?

Just consistency is all we should ask for.
Are you talking about the 4th down run? I’m that case Purdy is a runner (not defenseless) and not to mention he drops his head on the run. Young’s is BS because it’s a terrible rule but probably a correct call by the book.

I'll miss the challenge of playing OU but I won't miss the lopsided officiating and I suspect OU will be in for a rude awakening in the SEC where they will be looked on at best as just another school and at worst as outsiders.
