That’s the absolute best case scenario. IMO we get swept by the top 6. Split with the bottom 4. We’ll see of course.
Honestly I expected us to look worse tonight. I realize Iowa could have named the score, but I think we have some pieces.
We need some 3 and D players IMO.
But I think Harris, Bolton, Johnson, JCL, and Foster starting lineup is something you can work with. I really wish we had Tre and Hinson.... that would help a lot. Possibly two starters right there.
But I thought Iowa would blow us out from the tip.... and we had the lead with 4 mins left in the first half. That itself was a victory for this team IMO.

Went about as I expected, EIU has a good team with a ton of experience. Texting a buddy of mine that is an EIU fan, we counted 4 red shirt players on the floor for Iowa, plus Marbles kids took a prep season after high school. EIU has to be on the oldest and most experienced teams playing college basketball.
It really helps that Mad Fran gets good players, that are not great and therefore few leave early. He has recruited a bunch of Iowa kids or shooters from out of state, red shirts them, lets them grow and now look at them. He also hit the Lottery with Garza, I never thought he would be as good as he has turned out to be. Sorry thing, the kid may end up as player of the year, and will not even be drafted.
Prohm has this season to figure it out, we still get killed on dribble drive to the hoop, no presents in the middle to alter a shot, poor switching on man to man and we give up too many easy baskets and turnovers.
How about we wuss it a little and play a little zone from time to time. Seems to work for EIU.

We shot 40% from 3 and lost by 28. Goodness. I thought not being able to shoot was our problem these last 2 years. garza dropped 34 in 17 minutes of play. Unreal.
So we should recruit a bunch of 3 star kids that have no chance of ever leaving early for the NBA then? I’ll pass on that strategy.
But I’ve always said we need to recruit shooters though. Iowa does have lots of shooters. Dubar and Blackwell can’t shoot. Not sure about Walker?
Agree with a lot of posters....there are pieces here to make a decent team. Harris can play, Bolton can play, Lands is solid....Foster will be good but Steve HAS to get him minutes and baptize him by fire. That‘s the only way.

This chunk of marble could be the Venus de Milo but we'll be lucky if we get functional countertops.
What good does those 4 star kids do if they play for a year and then leave? We have 7 new players this year, had the same thing last year. Sorry but I would love for ISU to have a kid like the Fredrick kid that redshirts and then plays for 4 years for ISU, over a player like Tucker that was a one and done and is now playing in the NBA. Which one helps his school more, Fredricks 4 years at EIU or Tuckers 1?
they only beat us by 20? They had no problem the first half without him.
I dont think you'd want a program like that, yet it would still be better than Prohm's results, which kind of says something.
The guards got after people tonight. That was good. However, same old story on defense. If your man gets by you, NO ONE WILL challenge at the hoop. Getting fouls keeps the stars off the court.
