If CMC is going to turn our offense into what KF does at Iowa...... I'm out. I'd rather watch paint dry or my grass grow than watch that garbage.

Like someone already mentioned..... the play we ran to get our 55 yd TD a week ago..... we never even saw it today once. Never even tried to spread Iowa out sideline to sideline.... EVER.

Probably not running the ball up the middle constantly when you are getting less than a yard per carry.

As "mediocre" as everyone is claiming Iowa to be, that's probably the best defense we play all year. Unfortunately - and I don't know why - we called plays right into the teeth of their defense. Not to mention we played that defense in the first game of the season.

I'm just a little curious. We had 1 series and scored on a wr screen last week and I'm not sure I saw a single one of them today? I mean put the ball in our best WR hands and try and let them make a play instead of playing to ToE's strengths for 4 qtrs

Nope. The dive and iso'd sideline hitch were apparently there the whole time.

I’d say maybe C Newell should have started at Center & JGJ should @ LT, but that may not have been an improvement today.

JGJ is a disappointment. I hate to call out kids, but it's been 2 years in a row he's gotten himself suspended for the opener for breaking team rules. And he hurt us today. Your head has to be in it, and you have to buy in. Foster tried, but he's just not quick enough out there on the end. Not sure that JGJ can play out there either though.

Exactly. The play calling was questionable for sure, but I would assume our team will improve from week 1 to week 2, so will the play calling. Problem is we don't have a lot of time to try and adjust and make progress. We actually play talented teams throughout the entire year

Never post here but 2 things

1. The Rose kid is a stud. He’s a future all American. Truly amazing performance. 1A Your defense is very good. Will keep you in every game.

2) Hawks defense is rock solid. Might be the best D of the KF era and I certainly wasn’t predicting that preseason so if I’m a Cyclone fan I’m not throwing your offense under the bus just yet

I don't blame Kempt. If you have a team with a great defense, you WANT a QB to value possessions and not make turnovers, which he was great at last season.

This one is on a game plan that seemed to be ISU would get an early lead and then sit on it completely. The playcalling was unbelievably bad, and I usually mock people who say that.

Hate to break it to you but a controlled offense is going to be what ISU needs.

If the Oline were decent and the playcalling were more like the first drive we'd all be very excited right now.

Strategy for 1st time punter to rugby-style in 1st ever D1 game & it being a rivalry game. Not good.
1st drive was pretty good, primarily the strategy. Rest of game we had no strategy. Needed to pass to open the run. Don’t care about field position. Have lot of starters back so should have been able to do so.
4th down decision at midfield. WTF?
Iowa’s back 7 needed to be challenged & exploited. Didn’t do this at all. Agreement with Tillman on the game call. Needed to threaten downfield.
Last, the whole series down at the 1 yard line. We got too cute. Like the Seahawks with Lynch in the Super Bowl. 4 straight times with DM & straight ahead plays. Didn’t like the 2 pass plays & the wildcat.

We need to make some big adjustments on O ... that was one of the biggest let downs I can remember in decades of being a Cyclone fan. The D might keep OU below 30 but our O won’t see the OU side of the field playing this way...

I disagree. Our team will improve from week 1 to week 2 for sure. I am going to stay optimistic that the play calling will also improve from week 1 to week 2. Why wouldn't it?

Ah yes, football season is back and the whining begins.

For me, the biggest message today was that missing our first game was a bigger deal than I thought, for both the players and the coaches. That is why most Power 5 teams schedule cream puffs to start the season. Practices can only achieve so much, and the competition is too tough to go up against a team of Iowa's calibre with only practices to prepare. Ask Nebraska!

No, there's plenty of winnable games left.

Starts with the coach taking ownership.

Positive is Iowa fans cannot in any way say ISU played above their talent today.

Canceled game may have been a blessing (because we didn’t lose it)

Although I think this was just a really good game plan from Iowa. We have limitations on offense (can’t run outside, our QB can’t make some of the throws) and they really took advantage of it. And their DL kicked the crap out of our OL.

How do u know we cant run outside if we dont even have a play to try?
