Need the offense to step it up today. Getting to 24 or 27 points gives us a great chance with the way the defense has played this year.

If our defense can get some key 3rd down stops early in the game, I like our chances of scoring quick.

Will be an interesting game. Good offense vs. good defense. Who will come out on top? I like our defense in this one. Let's go get that dub boys!!!

Tech had the 96th rated defense and somehow held OSU to 17. Maybe that was just an anomaly. But If our offense can at least maintain some drives (and score TDs) to keep the D fresh, it'll prevent it from becoming a shootout. Keep Hill under 100 yards.

An X-factor: ISU is the least-penalized team in the Big 12, 41 yards per game. OSU averages 71 ypg.

Nah...it needs to be pointed out, and it needs to improve.

Haven't seen anyone dispute that those things happened.

The defense is better than the wet paper towel we've seen in the past, but having someone wide open in the middle of the field late last week on TCU's field goal drive wasn't totally surprising.

Don't know what he said but if he mentioned that ISU doesn't stop the ball well in crucial situations, he'd be correct. That's part of being a good defense.

For anyone wondering what that means, go see how TCU got so close for their field goal last week, or how Iowa got 13, or what OU did when ISU got close in the 2nd half. It's a trend.

Gotta stop third downs and gotta stop Hill. Make the young QB have to beat our secondary with his best WR sitting out for the rest of the season.

We can hang with them, but honestly even greater than the above, we need to find some offense. Gotta keep our O on the field, and it wouldn't hurt to kill clock.

The defense is much, much better than that. I'm not disagreeing, and neither is Heacock, about 3rd down defense, and giving up those plays you mentioned. But, we're 31st in YPG at 333, inside top 30 in redzone defense, rush yards per game, and only give up 17.5 points per game. That is a pretty damn good defense. Of course we have things to work on, and I'm sure we will see improvement in those areas.

You hate pointy elbows, don’t you? How frustrated are you about that second half TD that the defense allowed?

There are some implicit benefits to our 3rd down defense. Our offense’s risk-reward approach is off, but the defense is nearly perfect and giving up 3 points on a drive that started at midfield doesn’t suggest otherwise.

I don’t give a cardinal and gold F@&# about stats or tendencies to this point. Just get a win! Give up 1.7 million yards on D but get the win. Pass for negative 12 yards but get the win. Play in nude colored uniforms but come home with that damn win.

They gave up 3rd and 4th down conversions throughout the game.

That's frustrating.

If they 'find it' this week and make those stops, that's progress.
