17 wins against the 8th toughest SOS in the country right now on kenpom. That's good enough. People need to look at the bubble this year. It's really ******* bad

I'm also convinced that the ACC somehow gets 10 teams in when all is said and done, even though this will include some crap at the bottom (and could set the record for fewest wins picked as an at-large). Talking heads will prevail. Look at Wake Forest - they haven't beaten anyone, but their numbers are way up there, much higher than us. They're 13-11 after tonight. So yes, I'm aware that someone will probably make it with 16 or 17 wins this year because there are no mid-major candidates for bids (St. Mary's and maybe the Valley runner-up, but I'm not convinced there). I'm just not convinced it would be us or someone from the Big 12.

So go through the 'Predictions' thread and see if people thought this would either be a close loss or close win tonight.

It wasn't because they thought Texas was so bad or that ISU is so good.
I thought the general opinion was that nobody here knew anything about basketball at all.

Yep, I will sleep just fine tonight, hopefully.

It's a basketball game.

Played by 18-22 year olds.

It was frustrating to see a loss that was *this* close but I hope life can go on for some of you...seems unlikely. I had this penciled in a loss and it happened. So did several people in the 'Predictions' thread today.

I'm always amazed when I see people hint at their age on here...all indications are it ranges from people in their 20's-70's but they meltdown like 9 year olds because of a basketball team that's not much better than NCAA tourney-qualifying with some luck. I suppose I've been there but at some point perspective has to set in.
This x 1000 ... pretty amazing to me ... this team is still a cobled-together group of 2-4 star players and we just had two back-to-back road games against TOP talent of only 4-5 stars and two excellent coaches and we are 1-1 ... I'll take that

They will find mid majors if they have to. Always do. Then people are in disbelief when they get in.

Texas was 9-14. Also, Shaka is an excellent coach? What has he proven if you take out that final 4 run?

Why wouldn't the Big 12 get those bids? We are the 2nd strongest conference and the deepest. A 8-10 team from the Big 12 is likely to get in

You'd think not after Middle Tennessee in 2013, but there will definitely be a spot in Dayton for a questionable one this year. If Iona can make it as an at-large, this year it will be Valparaiso or someone like that. Could be the MVC runner-up.

There are so few good wins by any mid-majors this year, but there are also a ton of bad losses by the power conference bubble teams. No one on the bubble really deserves to make it this year, at least so far. We'd have trouble filling the spots with only a 65-team tourney. Syracuse has a bunch of bad losses but at this point, they're probably going to be like a 6 seed or something because they've won a few recently. If we could somehow go 5-2 the rest of the way (not sure how), we could play our way back up to a 6-7. I just don't see it, though.

I think it's possible that K-State could get in at 8-10 in the league, with a win at Baylor. They have also beaten WV at Bramlage, and they have more non-con wins than us. Now, their non-con SOS is atrocious, so not sure about that getting credit. If TCU were to pull a big upset down the stretch, but only finished 8-10, they might also get in. We did nothing in our non-con other than lose a bunch of very close games to good teams, and take a couple of bad losses on the road. I suppose it's possible we make it at 9-9 (not at 8-10), but we'd have a weak case unless one of those wins is against Baylor or WV.

He's not good at managing lineups at all.
This wasn't a lineup problem. This was a piss poor attitude problem. Monte said they came out and played nonchalantly the first half per the post-game interview. It's like they just didn't give a crap the first 15 minutes. Pathetic.

I know we are all pissed.. But don't act like you didn't expect this. we live and die by the jump shot since the team refuses to look inside or dump it off after driving. Love monte but him looking straight at and then shrugging off a posted up Solomon young multiple times just makes me even more ready for next year, and a less selfish team.

You got that right though you can put it on Naz or anybody else. Young, Holden, or Bowie, might as well tell those guys to put their arm down asking for the ball to save some energy. Just once (okay maybe 3 times) would like to see those guys catch it and see what happens. It is 50/50 on Holden catching it though.

starting 4 chuckers and and one guy to clean up the bricks is a recipe for nonchalant play. It's most definitely a line up problem.

God Texas is so amazing with all of that talent.....that is young, inexperienced and 9-14. Throw in the fact that they don't have a true pg. I'm just glad we stayed within two points.

Oklahoma game on Saturday is a must-win, hopefully the coaching staff and team are ready to play.

In the prediction thread, I said my hunch was UT would win, so I was somewhat prepared. Still wanted to get a W and it probably should've been. Iowa finally creeps into the top 100, and we immediately drop a sub-100 game. Crud.

As far as a tournament bid, here's the basic deal. Foremost, win out at home. That gets an additional top-10 win, probably 2 more top 50 wins, and avoids another bad loss. Current RPIs of those four are 1 (BU), 28 (OSU), 39 (TCU), 157 (OU). That's about all we need. If ISU can add one more win on the road to go along with those, great, it improves seeding.

The bricks were a direct result of running zero offense the first half. The first 25 posessions were one and done producing a whopping 8 points. Rediculous.

We are not very good against taller and bigger teams.Thats why I don't understand us not playing some zone. Prohm needs to figure that out.
You would think that after Texas drove down the lane like a freight train creating fouls ten times we would have switched defense. Guess not. That's too obvious.
