He got up 5 3s in those 10 minutes. Very quick release. I loved the aggressiveness, although I think he got away with a travel once.
He launched a couple treys early in the shot clock that made me cringe. But he's a freshman and learning and I suppose it's good that he's not too trigger-shy.

Not to mention he insulted all of the farmers of Iowa. Funny thing is that he probably still sports his "ANF" clothing.

Somehow I think his tired act on ESPN all of those years did a lot more to hurt the image of Iowa than these kids. And these guys really look young but I guess making fun of a bunch of kids wearing the shirts they handed out at the game isn't too low for him to sink.

Anyone else hear the effeminate Meaney in the crowd? ESPN picked an unfortunate mic location for the crowd noise. I kept laughing, but my wife called me childish.

She obviously doesn't understand my humor and love of obscure movie references.

Ellingson was our best asset down the stretch. Why Fran feels the need to have a Drake level player in there chucking up 3s in crunch time is beyond me but we'll take it.

I think this game was a small benchmark in the growth of our team. Could we beat another high major team with some talent that had their backs against the wall? UNI will be a bigger test. I think we'll almost certainly be the underdog to a very good Panther team. It will be interesting to see how we respond to that.

This team! There's certainly a wing and prayer aspect to em IMO with the youth on the floor. They seem to have just enough shooting, foul shooting%, defense, and some other intangibles to pull out games.

I'm still wary of conference play and what happens when they face a step up in compeition in the Big 12. Regardless, I'm impressed with the coaching job here, and the young guys aren't shying away from the moment.

Nice response here:

My question for the Corn Growers would be how is sponsoring this game helping me as a corn farmer? How are we expanding markets, increasing demand, and fighting against bad legislation by taking my checkoff dollars and sponsoring a sporting event?

Back to the game, if we had shot well in the first half we would have buried them. It was nerve-wracking playing that poor of a team that close at home, but I will take the W!

He is a whiny little *****!!!

I get a kick out of the two instances he picked. On the Pemsl foul, you'll see that called against him almost all the time. They've emphasized over the last few years allowing freedom of movement. He slid in front of him and impeded his movement. Just because you flail and fall down doesn't make it a charge.

The second one is also pretty obvious. Hans had inside position and Nunge came in out of control and clipped his shoulder. Another easy call.

One thing I can't stand playing basketball is when the offensive player hooks the defender. Pemsl used his elbow to get around the defender on most of his shots.
That was a terrific move by Pemsl on that play, I'm usually with you on hooks but that one was him just moving our man out of the way with his elbow, not hooked around, which is legal. Grown man move. Pemsl actually impressed me in that 5 minute stretch, I'm curious how he would have finished out the game cause he was giving our bigs fits.

Hassel is a troll-artist. But, if he wants to gripe about calls - I think they botched the call when Baer knocked the ball out of Babb's hand. Babb was going at a certain angle as he brought the ball up. The ball ends up in a total different trajectory due to the Iola player knocking it away. It should have been the Cyclones ball and a chance for us to score with 8 sec on the shot clock. We still may NOT have scored, but that is 8 more seconds that would have run off.
That play gets called in Babbs favor 10/10 if the ref sees, in real time, Baer touched it at all. Thing that screwed it was them calling it out on us to begin with because it was a very close call.
