Kane is still good even when he looks bad

He had a few bad shots and pressed a bit in transition, but as a whole when we needed to settle down Kane took control. I also think he almost always makes the right decision of whether to pull it out or attack in transition. Kane's exactly what this team needed.

+1. That is a BCS-level top 25 team starter? I was super confused by that. I think he is #8 or 9 on our team, only good for his size.

I think this game can put to bed Peter Jok being a part of their awesome depth, he for sure wouldn't be getting Hoiball minutes this year. He played like two minutes and looked lost.

Gonna give a shoutout for Morris. Thought he helped quite a bit in little ways, quicker feet on D than Naz or Thomas. Also Hogue when he was on Marble, did a good job. He got loose a little on us when Hogue not on him.
Agreed Monte is solid. I'm ****** he got stuck and threw away that pass early in the game. That broke his no turnover streak and it was his only TO of the night.

Iowa's height had its biggest affect on Kane's penetration, a lot of his drives that didn't quite go in were well defended. He and Thomas were the most off their game, but that's what's great about having so many go to guys.

Cool moment at the Twin Cities game watch when a bunch of young alumni lead the Cyclone fans in singing the fight song after the game ended. Just ****in' awesome!

Niang and Long are going to significantly outproduce them from the same class...and they went nuts over their big gets.

Gazelle or a deer in headlights shooting into the Hilton crowd? Gessell did play a very good game up until crunch time though, probably their second or third best player for much of the night. Uthoff got really lucky he didn't foul out, he hand checked twice as much as what Naz got fouled out for doing.

I think Hok fans are in such a meltdown not just because they had this game in their grasp, but look at their program. They've had one highly ranked recruiting class and not much else. They were banking on that great class to carry them to conference title contention, and it just isn't very good. Geselle is pretty good, but looks like his ceiling's pretty low and wet the bed when it mattered tonight. Woodbury and Oleshani are huge projects and it's hard imagining either being more than decent defensive players and garbage guys. Clemmons has had some decent moments, but isn't anything great.

To top it off they have to deal with ISU being better, losing tons of scoring yet simply reloading under Fred. Oh, and knocking on the door of landing the #2 SG in the country.

Sucks to be a Hok bball fan.

Off the grid
well you can't make what you don't shoot. Your three point percentage matches your season average. I can't imagine ISU is shooting much better than 48% from the floor on the year.

It just makes me laugh that you guys can't admit that ISU played well. Did they have the greatest game they'll play all year? no. But that doesn't mean they played bad.

And hippity, Iowa is a pretty good offensive team. They don't make it look as pretty as ISU does, but they get the job done anyway.

49% from the field on the year but with a 57% effective field goal percentage.

We got crushed on the boards
we sucked from the FT line
transition defense was a sieve. (granted, Iowa is an excellent transition offense team)

That's how we didn't play very well.

Why was the court stormed?

Because we were happy! FYI, Hoiberg, in the post-game sideline interview, pointed to the fans on the court and mentioned how great it was.

I thought Fran really hurt himself by playing guys that really did not need to be getting minutes. Won't mention names, but there were guys that played a lot that hurt Iowa. Fran, while a very good coach, out thinks himself sometimes.

He also has got to get his guys to stop fouling. Iowa reaches, grabs, hacks and sets a ton of illegal screens and it really really hurts them down the stretch in road games. They have to clean that up and play about 3 less guys. 3 or 4 guys for Iowa that have no business playing on that team.

I thought Fran hurt himself by leaving Woodbury in for so long. In fact, I thought we were in trouble when he fouled out! Fran even started his press conference by answering a question about Woodbury and said how well he played. He seems to be trying too hard to make Woodbury a star rather than letting him be a role player with more limited minutes.

And we wonder why Frances has never coached an NBA player . . .
