I really dont see how the McD apologist can be content with 3 wins in the conference...EVERY YEAR. Besides the crazy extension he got he must have incriminating stuff on Pollard or sumthin

Looks like Nebraska will win also today.

The last time that we have won by double digits was North Dakota back on 12/22.

Since Kansas and Kentucky lost, will Wes Johnson be on the number one team next week? We will play the #6 seed unless we fold for the tournament.

I watched the ANKENY HIGH SCHOOL boys go 18-21 from the free throw line last night when they beat Johnston, and we have a team of DIVISION I BASKETBALL PLAYERS who go 12-21 in a 3-point loss. That's disappointing folks.

Gmac is neutered when it comes to telling players want he will/will not allow on the court. We all know it. The players know it.

Yeah...pretty much...it's the 'ol proverbial inmates running the prison scenario. Consistent winning will not happen under those circumstances...

i'll take heat for saying this, but brackins is the most over rated cyclone basetball player in our history. great players win games, he has never accomplished anything as a team while he's been here. Takes bad shot after bad shot. It costs us.

Craig could have gone pro last year and made a ton of money. Instead, he returned to play here - possibly to his detriment. Lots of people get education scholarships for all kinds of different reasons - need/hardship, intelligence, talent, and athleticism. I think that a ton of people on this board would admit that an education doesn't necessarily guarantee anything in life - the money that Craig could have made by going pro is pretty tangible.

I am so tired of hearing this, the reason he came back was because he was all over the draft board. most likely 2nd round pick. You don't make a ton of money playing alongside stinson in the d league, which is exactly where he would have ended up. if he was NBA ready he wouldn't be having the season he is having.

I'm not sure I'll agree with much of this, but you won't get heat from me on it.

We may partially agree - because I firmly believe he is the most under performing player on this team when looking at results and potential.

Its interesting to reflect on how excited I was when I watched Craig announce he was returning, and how disappointed I am now with the results. What a swing. Didn't see that coming.

I would LOVE to have Gmac say that clearly, maybe with his voice raised, to those two players. But Gmac is (1) grateful tha CB came back this year and feels indebted to him and (2) doesn't want CC to get angry, and maybe stalk out again, or worse, have CC's dad on his ***.

It took me awhile, but I think this may be true. Due to circumstances earlier in his tenure at ISU, imo he is now "gun shy" or even worse, inconsistent in handling the players. Perhaps this area of coaching was easier at UNI (for various reasons).
I would love it if the players "feared" McD- but I guess players would just leave then. It is a fine line.

This loss really sucks because we could have been tied for eight place.

We have too many lackadaisical plays during our games.

Okie knows how to finish the game. They have a coach.

That's what chaps me about the last 4-years; you'd think at least once we'd play out of our league - play beyond our ability, above our potential aamd pick off at least one surprising upset.

Instead, we get South Dakota St. beating us at home.

Never thought I'd say this, but it just might be time to clean the MBB house. Yeah, you'll get the argument of "what about all the progress that has been made" or "next year will be better" or "McDermott deserves better". Yes, McDermott did deserve better than what happened to him when he first came in, but unfortunately those weren't the cards that we was dealt, and the cards that he has been dealt he has played horribly. As far as the other two arguments, what progress has been made, and based on what has happened over the last 4 years, how can you possibly argue that year 5 is going to be any better? What was supposed to be McDermott's breakthrough year at Iowa State is going to end up being his worst season yet.

I think McDermott is a great person, and I think a lot of his detractors get WAAAAY too personal in their attacks against him (for instance, one unnamed poster stating that "McDermott is pathetic" is way out of bounds). Perhaps he's even a good coach - he certainly had results before he came here. But it's certainly clear that he is a bad fit here, his coaching methodology just isn't working here, he has pretty much lost control of the program, and for the sake of Iowa State basketball as well as whatever McDermott might be able to salvage out of his career, I think it just might be time for both sides to part ways. I mean, how much worse would next year possibly be to press the gigantic reset button on the program in comparison to where it's at now?
