ISU just has to make some plays. Twice today ISU had a chance to recover critical fumbles, and they failed. They had a first and goal at the 7 and failed to score. Stuff like that is what wins and loses games. Just have to get better.
And you end up being 1-8 in the last 9 games decided by a single score or less.ISU just has to make some plays. Twice today ISU had a chance to recover critical fumbles, and they failed. If you read any of my posts about the Texas game, you would have seen that. I said if we continue to make mistakes and play like we have offensively this season, we would lose badly. Well, the Offense improved, we made too many mistakes, the game was close and we still lost. It was improvement in some places and still bad in othersImpressive job by their defense today against a KU team that had about 30 yards of total offense in the second half to us. When was the last time our defense allowed anything close to what they scored today?
You had probably written us off against Texas too after they won 49-0 to OU.
Agreed and this is one of the downsides of widespread sports betting.Yeah, without him we're not in any of the past 4 games. Anybody blaming him or saying he throws games is terrible.
X literally leads all of college football (by a fair margin) in receptions. Many of those are big catches that kept drives alive or scored touchdowns. (He lead the Big 12 in touchdown receptions going into the day.). So those are all big plays. I understand you can point to three catches he could have made that would potentially give us three more wins, and I guarantee X is thinking about those too…but we literally wouldn’t have been in the position to have those plays happen/matter if it wasn’t for the plays he did make. He literally made an amazing drive saving catch immediately before the one he missed.
Just meant the team (especially on offense) is improving, and I think they will start winning some Big Xii games. Cannot change the past games, but the season is not lost - even sitting 0-4 at the bottom of the Big Xii.While I understand what you're saying, that isn't exactly how sports, especially Iowa St sports, work. This team tends to find different ways to lose each week.

The comment about not having the talent to run the offense they want to run is spot on. We don’t have the TE or line talent to try and control TOP and also score enough points to winI haven't read through the thread, so this might already be posted.
I know we aren't supposed to say it around here, but it does matter that our two best running backs have been out/banged up pretty badly for several weeks now. I'm hopeful a bye week will help.
The timing of todays play makes it a you can’t overcome type of play. If that play comes with another opportunity it is bad but you can overcome. With how it ended up it absolutely changed the outcome.I easily would put today’s loss in that category of “you have to put yourself in position to play through some calls”. You have to, and they didn’t.
The people who watched the first half of Baylor and act like that was a similar situation are deluding themselves. There’s no “playing through” that sort of nonsense and it’s ridiculous to expect the guys to do so. I quote Campbell on his way to the locker room “well that was some $*** huh?”.
As I watched today…if you could slightly alter 3 plays, they’d be close missed opportunities or bad split second decisions by ISU players. Watching the replay of Baylor game it’s pretty clear the biggest plays you’d reverse were plays where our defense already did its job superbly and got screwed out of what they had earned.
Some years its frustrating having the bye week early, but man we could have used that bye week a couple weeks ago now
Toss the rule. NFL doesn’t use it. Enforce 15 yarders for unnecessary roughness or intentional hits to head.Someone needs to find out when the last time a targeting call was made in the Big 12. I haven't seen a single one since the Baylor game
I think we have a new winner for costliest dropped pass in CFB today.
