Fred is getting outcoached big time too. With one minute left in the half we finally decide to play more pressure defense? Really? Why wait that long Fred? They had wide open shots the entire first half. UNI's pressure defense is WAY better than our defense right now.

If we don't come out of the locker room and cut this lead at least a little bit right off the bat, and we let UNI expand it up to 15 or so again, we're done I'm afraid. If we don't see an increased intensity coming out of the half, I don't expect we'll see it at all tonight.

For Ejim to say he wasn't happy at all about not beating UNI, he's sure stinking it up. You would think he has more pride than this?

What makes me nervous is I can't imagine Fred getting upset and yelling at anyone to wake these guys up which is what they need. Maybe Sadler can. Or Ejim. Or Kane. Niang and Ejim, and Hogue need to stop shooting 3's and concentrate on getting boards and getting their opponents in trouble.

That's the job of the seniors, and leaders on the team.

Ejim did it earlier this season.

Well lets see if Hoiberg can figure out a way for our guys to guard this team and make some easy baskets. Kane has to stop whining and just play like he's interested.

ISU came back from 12 down against BYU, which is a much better team than UNI. I'm not overly concerned at this point. It will be a different second half.

Stop. Just stop. Your logic is not needed here. The whiners have arrived and they will have their fun!

Second half of the BYU game was really physical, and an all-around tough game. We'll see if the Cyclones have it in them again.

That's something I noticed with Kane and I know its only a matter of time before it bites us in the ***. Several times he has tried that stupid move where he acts like he got fouled while shooting and throws the ball down. He doesn't get the call so he just whines about it for 2 seconds while everyone else is on the other end of the floor.

BYU also takes a bunch of quick shots which helps you get more shots and it's easier to come back.

An off-night/wake-up call wouldn't be a bad thing in the long-term. Getting shredded would make me think U-M and BYU aren't that good.

Fortunately, there's another half to do something about it. I say "fortunately" with some trepidation.

I want to win as bad as anybody, but losing to UNI and/or Drake practically seems to be required for us to have a good season. It is literally the least accurate indicator of a season. Lose to a horrible Drake team...ISU has done it and finished #3 in the nation. Hate sounding like a Hawk, but the #superbowl thing makes a lot of sense in these games. Our series with Iowa is generally a much better early indicator of how we'll do in B12 and NCAA.

Hope the day comes when we curb stomp these guys, but I can remember the great seasons after dropping games to them, practically every good season we've had in the last 15 years.

I blame CW for writing that column about A/TO ratio.

You do realize ISU has one some of their biggest games shooting poorly from behind the arc? Or do you simply want to ignore facts and start the sissy-boy meltdown prematurely?

Not melting down. I don't like watching a basketball team rely on 3s to win games. Never have. They're down by 13 to a UNI team that's simply playing defense. I can't say their 'game' outside of chucking up 3s is going to improve much this 2nd half, because UNI is getting back and challenging them on defense. Hope I'm wrong, but I said it prior--UNI isn't going to go anywhere.

It's fascinating, really.
