This is what I don't understand.....

PLAYER A from small town Iowa and is a Fresh or Soph: Starts and is an outstanding player for UNI, Creighton etc...

IF Same PLAYER A goes to ISU he sits the bench and doesn't do anything until later....May or may not turn into anything,,,,,,,

YET.......
PLAYER A is the one killing us when we play UNI.

What is bad coaching?

Alright ummmmm I'll take Ready for football next year for $1000 Alex.

IHavNoCyCash;2540327 Imagine if Floyd or Eustachy were the coaches...ya I would be ******* my pants if I was on the team right now.[/QUOTE said:
I remember after we lost to Drake during the 1999-2000 season (32-4 elite 8 team). Eustachy was itching to make it back to Ames before the team did to voice his displeasure. You saw the results

Coaching and learning versus "ME" can go a long ways

Too much one-on-one basketball on the offensive end. I think FH needs to tell the team not to shoot until they pass it at least 3 times on the offensive end or get a post touch.

The defense was a little better than the drake game but it was still bad. Can someone get a scouting report on the opposing team so we can identify the shooters and guard them?

Doesn't FH want to play up tempo? You can't do that unless you get some steals and put some defensive pressure on the other team...

Sounds good...we must be watching different games. You keep your rationality, I'll keep me realism. Hopefully we end up in the same place at some point in the future but for now I guess we have to agree to disagree.

That's fair. Your realism is a little pessimistic right now, but I hope we meet too. People clearly take the loss differently and most of that is due to what their expectations were at the beginning of the season. I expected a 15-20 win team. This team looks like it's going to be that. Not great, not bad. Maybe the NIT.

At least you are making a decent argument as to what is wrong unlike a lot of other people here. I can at least respect that.

Also, "I'll keep me realism" ...really?

Some of you guys need to take a deep breath and not post until Friday. Jesus Christ. Some of these posts are embarrassing.

No, consistently dropping a deuce on the court year after year when you play Mo Valley teams is embarrassing.

That "me" variable was the biggest going in to the season. It doesn't look good right now.

I was excited because I thought the "me" (talent) would play more as a team. I love talent when talent can play well together in a TEAM SPORT. We still can, but it might take some acts like "Hey allen, guess what? McGee is starting over you tonight"

hmmmm...giant hype machine. nobody plays defense. We can't set a pick, or defend one. Why does Royce insist on going one on one on ever play. He's 6"5 and he will get killed by the post players in the big 12. He's a 4. Put Railey or Gibson in at the post. God we suck. Thanks Fred.

Unsuccessful troll is unsuccessful. Try harder at life, please.

Me too, thought these guys would embrace the second chance they've been given.

Unfortunately with a cast of talented misfits and castoffs this could go one of two ways. We either implode and struggle to 10 mins or they rally eek out 20. Right now imploding has better odds.

We really need to play more 2-3 zone defense we are getting killed one on one. Gibson needs to start or Booker we need a banger down.

Credit to UNI, they played a heck of a game and made some big 3's. Our defense wasn't stellar, but who would have thought they would've killed us from behind the arc tonight?

They played about as good of a game as they could have and we just couldn't get it going tonight. They were the better team tonight and we're still a team without an identity. Hopefully we'll learn from our mistakes and get it going in December.

Think about what would happen if we played more as a team. I will almost guarantee we'd be undefeated right now.

Did you see what happened tonight when we started to come back and got back on top? We were playing as a team, good defense, making cuts on offense, finding the open man, etc.

This may be true, but you and people of your ilk are as well. You're all embarrassing. I thought Iowa fans were bad after losing to Clemson last night were bad... Jesus.

You have to force the tempo. Like I said in an earlier post..push the ball every time down the floor. Every once in a while, they will fall asleep and we get a gift. Worst case scenario, is speeds them up a little bit, gets them out of their comfort zone.

And how about some pressure on D? We just stand there, and let them do whatever they want. Why not pressure the PG so he doesn't have a clean passing lane to the post? We just let them bring it up, play soft, they throw it to the post, we are late to double, they get an open 3. Or we don't double, and a cutter comes down the lane while we watch for a layup. We have some athletes, they have to play with some passion or get the F&%# off the floor.

I love Fred, and will watch every game this year with hope. But it is time for him to lay it out for these guys, and bench anyone who doesn't do what he want done.

Do you mean to tell me that an effective drop-step hookshot could be more valuable than isolated one-on-one drives or forced three pointers? I like you, but your crazy.

We are plain and simply bad. There is no offense. There is no defense. Foul shooting is terrible. When we find something that works, we get away from it next play? Why? Coach? Why?
