ISU came out great to start the game. However, like every game this season, the second half we look like a completely different team. So yes, Mcdermott will get praise for the first half, but scorn for the second half.
Really. I call BS on that. Turnovers, bad decisions, and missed wide open shots cost us that game.
Tell us why you think we lost because of coaching?
Like your breakdown. The one comment I want to make is about rebounding. That is actually the way K-State rebounds and why they get so many Offensive boards. They are trying to poke it out of the guys hands that are in position and come up with loose ball.
Mac had NOTHING to do with this loss. This was one of the best games I've seen our team play all year.

Don't remeber ripping on McD personally, however, did see it as you pointed out. I believe their is a fine line between coaching and inspiring...seemed like today we played inspired. Props to McD for getting us to play that way. The other half of the job (coaching) was not done in my opinion (especially in the 1st few min of 2nd half again).
I would think he could have done a slightly better job getting this team to come out a little more fired up to start the second half.
You coach fundamentals....turnovers, bad decsions, etc are wiped out when a team is fundamentally sound.
I am with you on this post. We made two shots to start the second half before then missing our next 6 while KSU made there shots on the little run they had. A few turnovers did not help. We are put into position to make shots and many are open and we are not doing it. Not sure how that always turns around to coaching on these boards. 1-13 or something like that from three. Even 4-13 which is still below our noraml and we are never in such a hole and have a great chance at victory.
I know what you are saying about the rebounding. Yes, that is what KSU does, but they are also more athletic as a team than ISU is. Hamilton needs to grab the damn ball, because he is not fast enough to chase after it. MG usually does a good job of grabbing it and CB is getting better....but too often the ball slips off their fingertips and goes out of bounds, or to the opposing player. Also, if you noticed, KSU's guards are very active at rebounding. Of course, a lot of that comes from their ability to drive (and ISU's inability to stop the drives) and following their own shots. It's just a matter of ISU being more physical and taking ownership of the ball.
What makes a loss in a loosing season even more miserable?

I would bet my house that Mac addresses these in practice. At some point it is up to the players to execute and NOT turn it over or make the same dumb mistakes.
I'll say it again, coaching did NOT cost us this game. I've been hard on Mac a lot over the past few weeks but only when I feel its deserved. Today it isn't deserved.
