I get the competition is not great the last two games, but really like the movement without the ball and more stubbornness getting to the rim. This team is still going to have some struggles offensively, but they can really give themselves a lot better opportunities if they keep the body and ball movement improving.

You could tell they just had more room to operate tonight. The defense top to bottom in the big 12 is just at a different level, that's become obvious. It's a big deal when the referees aren't injecting themselves in the game as well.

That's Iowa State's first win at Hilton in Big12/SEC Challenge since 2014-15. o_O
So is that 2 or 3 losses? We must have had a 2 year period where we played 2 at home or 2 on the road, otherwise this would be a road year.

10 "kills" for ISU in this game. 8 in the second half

Just thinking I'm not sure how they keep track of these. It is possible 5 stops in a row count as 3 kills, and not necessarily stopping them 9 times.

Next 3 games are really hard with KU at home and then at Texas and WVU. Going 1-2 would be just fine IMO.

Big opportunity on Tuesday with KU

Watched slightly delayed, so stayed out of the thread. Maybe repeating other's points, but:
- I thought the Cyclones dominated the first half, just missed a ton of good looks. Should've been up a dozen at the break.
- I also thought the 1st half defense was good, despite UM fg %.
- Cool to see the 3 consecutive made 3's by 3 different players, which kind of blew it open.
- RJ and GC are getting more aggressive on offense. Even if they aren't great, it really impacts the opposing defense.
- Grill's defense and TH's offense were key early on.

Excellent win. Looking forward to this next one!

Only home loss in the interim was to Tennessee (2017-18) ... lost road games at Vanderbilt, A&M, Auburn and Mississippi State (won at Ole Miss in 2018-19.)
So in a 5 year period we had one home game? That's bull ****!

Edit:I mean 6. Math.

Look at the monster games (efficiency-wise, at least) from Conditt, Grill, and Jones.
Some here have said in the recent past past that Grill just doesn't play defense or dribble well (or something). I didn't see it. In the OSU game. I thought he played great, was not a liability on defense, dribbled well enough.

He's developing. I'll have to watch his game a little closer. Great game by Grill, Conditt and Jones. We needed all three!
Grill is a weird case to me. For someone who is athletic as he is (and he is very athletic), he doesn't move very fluidly.
Three comments about Grill above, from the Okla St thread.

According to John W. and Eric H., Grill played a great game (Mizzou). They said he played great Defense/effort, made quite a few steals, etc. I haven't seen the game yet so can't comment. But sounds like Grill had another very good game!

Great to hear. We will need him down the stretch.

Overall it just felt good to have the opportunity to catch your breath after the run of games they've had since Big 12 play started. I know we go right back in the meat grinder now, but they got through the worst stretch, righted the ship, and got a convincing P6 win.

Grill was all over the place. Probably had 8-10 deflections and arguably the assist of the year to Jones on an awesome run out

It was great to see us not come out completely flat and overlook them. It was a textbook trap game before getting to host a top 10 rival in KU on Tuesday.

My youngest was in a wood bat hitting league in Urbandale that date. Walked into the Chicken Coup afterwards, it was already a blowout.
I watched or followed along via ESPN app every single game last year and for the life of me can’t remember that one. Probably a good thing lol

Good game by the Clones. Good to see some guys hit a few 3s in the second half to open it up a lead. Would have liked to see them run a couple play to get Gabe an open shot from 3 at the end of the game. Probably wouldn't have helped, but man it would be nice to get him to 35% from out there.

Just realized WVU has lost 5 games in a row. Their next two games are Baylor and Tech. Very likely they will have lost 7 in row when ISU goes to Morgantown

What's the number on breaking the NCAA record for wins from one season to the next? I've heard 17-19? Anyone know the actual #?

I remember the Mississippi State game well. That's the game where they had a possession while Bolton dribbled around for 20 seconds while the other 4 guys just stood on the baseline and did nothing.
