I was at the game. ISU had the ball missed a shot or something and it went out of bounds with no time on the clock. NE fans started celebrating on the court. Then the refs ruled there was less than a second left on the clock. Someone threw in the ball and Rancik tipped it in. The crowd was silent after that.

Matty T looked good tonight. Almost looked like after his offensive bump our defensive intensity went up. I've noticed Thomas' defense is on a new level this year which is a huge bright spot if we need minutes out of him. Mckay's length is a great addition too but man, he seems to fall down a heck of a lot... good win let's keep it rolling

Niang has to hit at least 1-2 threes a game in order for our offense to function. Our offense runs thru him at the high post and if he ain't hitting then they sag and eliminate hogue and Mckay inside. He doesn't have to hit 5, he just needs to hit a few to keep them honest which also opens up his driving and dishing. This is what the problem with our offense has been primarily. And, I can call it every time we are being pushed or down that BDJ will bring ball up court and try his cross over and either fall down or lose it, every single game.

Maybe it's time to run more plays for Dustin and less for Niang.

Correct our threes and ft% and we have a very good chance at beating WVU. But we played horribly last year....I am not expecting a win, Morgantown is a tough environment and a long travel.

Here nor there
Sure hope Niang can get out of his scoring funk...teams are really working to keep him from going off.

To be blunt, he is making it easy on them right now. Guys are also standing and watching.

Georges will get going, and he is all about the team. I loved seeing him out-there pumping up Thomas even though his own shots were not falling.

It was great to see Thomas, Hogue, and McKay realize it was on them tonight and flourish. That is a positive I suppose.

With only one guard that can create with the dribble and no bulk down low, we will struggle many games IMO. We have a lit of assets, but in hindsight could have used another guard this offseason.

Gotta say, once that first three was hit, the light seemed to turn on overall.
I will also get **** for this but it has to be said. Yes, Matt Thomas hit some great shots today but the guy got smoked defensively half the game. I felt the team struggled in flow and defensively whenever Naz wasn't playing despite not shooting the best.
Nader, Niang and Jones need to figure out what they lost since McKay joined the rotation.

Hope they get out of this funk, but I think other teams just have a great strategy to counter Hoiball now. Thats the part that makes me sort of worried.

We'll adjust but teams are just getting more willing to help off of everyone besides Long. No one is guarding McKay outside of the lane, Nader isn't a threat, teams are content to let Niang and Morris shoot 3's, Hogue has been hesitant to pull the trigger from out there prior to tonight. BDJ is OK but not someone teams are worried about flying out to close out on.

That sounds about right.

Thoughts:
Hogue was a monster
Thomas may be out of his slump
BDJ is in one though
these refs sucked
McKat will be huge this season

I wonder how much the flu has hit the team. Here in Ankeny it seems you can't turn around without someone either just getting over it or have it. Fred sounded hoarse out in Brooklyn. I'm sure there are a few guy struggling, and after having it I can understand why we are struggling if that's the case. It is brutal. I know, it's an excuse, I just don't think we are ourselves because of it. This team has all the pieces, it's just an unsolved puzzle right now. Luckily we have the puzzle master putting it together.

Nice win for the 'Clones tonight. It's important to follow up a tough loss with a win over a solid opponent.

Nice win but something is off. It is like they don't know what they are suppose to be doing on the floor. They need to find a place for BDJ to go and play his loud music all night. He hasn't been the same.

Never doubt a home game Rulzzz gameday thread. That being said my heart didn't need this close a game tonight.

I think what needs to happen, is for whoever the leader of this team is (no idea?) needs to get the guys together for a players only meeting and get some **** figured out before the WV game.

One positive throwback: I think the Elite Eight team won something like 66-65 vs. Nebraska in the early conference season. It may have been AT Nebraska, but still, it's good to remember they weren't perfect.

Otherwise, this ISU team needs to figure things out if they're going to be a top half/conference type of team.

Kentucky almost lost to Ole Miss at home tonight. At home. To Ole Miss. :skeptical:

Sometimes the opponent plays well and you don't, and you squeak one out (and sometimes you don't squeak it out). Especially during a team wide shooting slump. We'll be fine.

Anyone catch the sportscenter highlights? Every highlight was of Okie State making baskets, creating turnovers, and ISU mistakes until the last play with Hogue's block. Not that we really had very many highlights, but it was odd that it was all about Okie State.

Just talking about this with a friend, we get no love on SC. They were just talking about Nash the whole time.

Please no. They don't need to leave with more problems than they arrived with.
