***Official portal tracker thread***

Matt's job at psu isn't to win 10 games every year, the last guy did that. He can survive a 9 win season occasionally but what they're looking for is for their team to not fold like a cheap tent every time a top 10 team shows up. If he can do that and make the playoff 3 out of 4 years he'll have a long tenure in happy valley.

Once the portal actually opens, sure
That was the nature of my question. With portal not open how we can expect a bunch of commits?

Or are people looking for public commitments from current players that they’re staying?

Might get hammered for this take. IMO, CMCs job at Ped St isn’t to take good players and grow them. That won’t cut it when the expectation is a Natty. His job will be dependent on recruiting 4 and 5 stars and getting them to buy in to his culture speak and beat the likes of Bama, ND, Michigan and Ohio St. I love our kids, but the ones that should be playing there aren’t here.
They actually don't get a ton of 5 stars. About 1 per year (3 in 2022, 0 in 2021), but there are typically only 35-ish players who get a 5 star rating every year.

Anyone know what other jobs Campbell turned down? There was an article today from some outlet in Pennsylvania where he said he actually had decided to take two previous jobs but "slept on it" and it didn't feel quite right so he stayed.

I think one was USC. And you’ll hear different opinions about whether that was actually turned down by Campbell or if Lincoln Riley snuck into it at the last minute.

Not sure about the other. He was rumored to have wanted the Notre Dame job before they eventually gave it to Freeman.

Again, not sure if he turned it down or if they turned him down.

I hope this doesn't sound like a knock on Campbell or the ISU players, but why do people think some of them will go to Penn State and -- with pretty much the same coaching staff -- that went 8-4 this year and have never won a conference title suddenly turn Penn State into Big 10 and National Tittle contenders?
I would say some of them could agree to come in to be psu but be prepared to be in the two deeps. Which is something that the top teams have had over isu.

Iowa is getting verbal commits daily.
