You can announce you're going to enter the portal, there's just no portal to enter until Jan 2nd. You can talk to teams, but I don't think you can visit yet.
I just have the sneaky suspicion that the recruitment speech isn't "hey! wanna come be a backup at Penn State?!?!"

I think some of this is a matter of semantics. You can’t technically be “in the portal” until it opens. But you can announce your intent to do so.
Same if you’re an incoming recruit you can decommit.

I think it's a good sign that we don't have many who have announced that they are entering the portal so far. Hopefully they are giving Rogers a chance to talk with them first.
But I was told Jamie Pollard is the reason he left, and he would have stayed at ISU forever if it wasn’t for him.
Not sure why people make a big deal of social media posts like this.
Kids commit to coaches as much or more than schools. And obviously $$$ matter.
Maybe kids should say, "I commit to Jimmy Rogers" or "Thank You God, I'm gonna play for Matt Campbell". Avoid any disillusion by fans.
Obviously a joke because kids always say "1000% committed" and then decommit or transfer after 1 year.
Penn State has much more realistic expectations than this and other threads are making them out to be. Franklin was fired mostly because he was an *******. They hated him as a guy then the losing made it easy.
MC is screwing the team by flipping all the ISU recruits to Pedo State. LOI is to ISU not Matt Campbell! My respect for him is now zero!

Athletes typically choose their college based on the coaches, not the school. I'm not going to be bitter if ISU players or recruits decide another program, PSU or elsewhere, is a better fit for them personally.
A lot of folks looking at recruiting rankings to try and talk themselves into thinking we’ll retain our best players. Stop doing this to yourselves. Recruiting rankings matter until you step in the field. Performance is all that matters then. Plenty of our guys can step right in at Penn State and not miss a beat. Just accept that our best players are gone. They are.
I agree. I dont think I want a kid on the Cyclone football team that questions his desire to be a Cyclone. If the new coach or old coach is a deal breaker, so be it.
