Longtime lurker, just finally got around to registering.

Iowa learned a lot about themselves today, but anyone who knows football saw that this was not a dominating performance by Iowa in any sense of the word, ISU killed themselves with mistakes and penalties. Unfortunately, the bipolar Hawk fans (a group I'm not a part of) who headed for the roof when you guys went up 3-0 will be claiming the B10 title tomorrow morning.

I do think you guys are on the way up. This might not be your year but this rivalry is going to continue to be competitive, and if you stick with Rhoads I will not be surprised to see ISU in a B12 championship game sooner than later.

Great game, great rivalry, now let's go back to being friends for the next 51 weeks.

Tomorrow??? I had to hear it the whole second half. My, how much things can change in one week. Anyway, we got flat out dominated today. I think Iowa will have a decent year, but they need better QB play. Stanzi missed several wide open touchdown/large gain passes in the first half when the game was close. This could have been much worse. Willing to give coach some time, but sooner rather than later, please.

You can't win football games when you turn it over that much. We didn't even give ourselves a chance to win.

Sugar coat this all ya want, but this was a horrible performance today, mostly by our offense. I have no issues with out defense today other than the stupid penalty by Banks. Otherwise they did a good enough job for us to win.

We still have a lot of work to do before our tackling is consistent, but I agree that our defense wasn't our big problem today. They did show some improvement on the tacking front.

Kent St. is losing to Boston College 34-0 right now.
Army lost to Duke earlier (who got beat by D1-AA Richmond last week)
CU lost to Toledo yesterday

Plus, we'll get another look at KSU tonight when they play Louisiana-Lafayette. There is still a ton of opportunity for this year. Today just wasn't our day. We'll learn from it and move forward.
I'd feel better if you thought we could beat a team that was any good.

I'm frankly shocked at the outcome. I really expected to see you guys put some points on the board today and Arnaud really seemed like he tried to win the game by himself instead of just letting the game come to him. Robinson is going to be a good running back and the Sims guy (sp?) was making plays all over the field (just wow) I really won't be shocked to see ISU knock somebody off this season that they shouldn't. Good game today and good luck the rest of the season!

Why would you be gloating? Are you are on the team? I assume you're a spectator, just like the rest of us.

I am a new poster and a hawk fan I did not want you guys thinking I was here to rub salt into wounds. It is not like either side is immune to gloating with a win in the last dozen years on each others boards.

Plus it was not like it was a dominating performance by the hawkeyes, the executed when they needed to but a lot of it was handed over on a platter and we still have a lot to work on.

Well I am definitely not here to gloat because honestly I thought you guys were going to beat us by two scores after last week. The story here was the QB play. Not sure what happened with Arnaud maybe he just had one of those days either way he is a better player than what he showed today. I am wondering if nerves did him in but you would not think that would be a problem after last year. Stanzi has to make better decisions if we have any hope of winning against teams like PSU and OSU.

As a Hawkeye fan I am just glad we found our running back and we seem to have decent running backs behind him. With new coaches you are going to have some growing pains for a few years and I get the feeling you have a good one in your current coach. Your D was better than advertised and that could build into a strength for you if you get the CB position sorted out.

The only thing I will rib you a little about is the TD situation. You guys are snake bit against us when it comes to the red zone for some reason. Lucky for us we kept you from kicking a dozen field goals this year.

Good luck in the big 12 guys.

Stanzi's decision making was not an issue today after that 1st interception (great catch) that he grossly underthrew. And that wasn't even a terrible decision until a Dlineman got in his face as he started to throw. Stanzi, however, WAS terrible in the first half. Arnaud threw into double/triple and missed. Bad decisions. Stanzi had guys running wide open on many plays, saw them open, and missed them terribly. Arnaud missed Hamilton for a sure TD too, but for the most part he threw into coverage.

ISU's Dline played well against the run. They also got very little pressure.
Robinson right now is the best back in the state.
Some crucial penalties hurt ISU in the first half.

When you have a running game with a complimentary passing game, why try to do the opposite? Just about any coach would kill to have that offense (well maybe not Mike Leach). I didn't know you could just pick up a MENSA membership down at Wal-Mart.

ISU was way overmatched talent-wise today. If Stanzi wasn't so off his game, the score would have been much, much worse (49-3 or probably 56-3). The only player the clones have that would snif the field for Iowa would be your RB Robinson.

You have a long way to go before a winning season comes to Ames, but Rhodes seems to be the right man for the job.

Good luck the rest of the season. Maybe you can have a chance for a win against the Hawks in 2011 or 2013. Maybe.

Iowa kicked ISU good today. But you're just getting diarrhea of the mouth now.

Robinson would start. LJ would start and probably over Prater. We'd atleast hear loads of fans screaming to set Greenwood on the bench for Sims. I think ISU receivers are a little overrated by fans, but Hamilton would certainly be in the mix. Franklin too. I'm sure there are quite a few more.

Based on what, exactly? Perhaps, these guys we think are so great just are not so stellar.

We've yet to see it, even the potential of great play from this unit.

No, don't get me wrong. The running game is not that of Eric Dickerson fame. No. It's just that today, the running game was there because Iowa was so worried about the spread. They bought our bluff about having a passing game and it gave us some success running I feel. I was surprised by it quite frankly. So when you are 3rd and 2 and Iowa is not adjusting to the run, why pass? I already mentioned that the talent is sub-par. The recruiting mags that have us annually ranked anywhere from 60 to 90 in recruiting is sobering truth.

Outside of the obvious AA forcing the ball downfield into double coverage, my thoughts on the game:

Arob ran well, should have stuck to the running game
Stanzi tried to fall apart early but we didn't keep blitzing on D
Reynolds does everything but run for a gain, losing faith in him fast
Onside kick call in the first half was desperate and put our defense in a hole
Everything that could have gone wrong did, it won't happen every week, go out and beat kent next week and this performance is easily forgotten.

Don't worry, guys. Trolling is getting a short leash today.
