You know, I just find this whole "blame everything on JP" thing absolutely hilarious. Pollard from day one has given the fans pretty much what they want, but yet when things go wrong it's all his fault. 80%+ of the fans wanted McCarney fired as the 2006 season progressed (including Monty), which JP eventually has no choice but to concede to. He then listen to the fans' demands of bringing in a big name coach who will impact recruiting by his name alone, and fans claim that they're okay with that name coach using ISU as a stepping stone because the team should be improved enough by the time he leaves to hire another good coach. No one could have expected a traditional power school would come and hire Chizik from us after posting the worst record in ISU coaching history. So then the fans start whining about how they want to bring in a coach that isn't going to leave us at a lurch because we got burned by that last time, so he brings in Rhoads. But now lots of fans are complaining because it appears that we're not going to get to the magical 6-win window this year

Fans keep whining that we've been rebuilding ever since JP came in and destroyed the football program. Bull ****. This football team has been perpetually rebuilding since the 2002 collapse. The only reason why we "won" divisional titles in 2004 and 2005 is because the Big 12 North might have been the weakest division in college football those years. If those two McCarney-led teams were going up agaisnt the division from the last two years, it's quite likely the 2004 and 2005 teams would be just as bad as the 2007 and 2008 teams have been. No, this team has not been rebuilding since JP fired McCarney, this program has been rebuilding since 2002, back when BVDv, the scourge of the ISU athletic department, was running things. At this point I almost wish 2004 and 2005 didn't happen, because then ISU fans wouldn't be nearly as deluded as they are that things were "oh so rosy" before JP came in and destroyed thngs...

I like your dry and sarcastic sense of humor. You are right, it is a bad thing that ISU won consecutive division titles. In fact, I doubt any Cyclone football teams in the past would have gone to bowl games if they were playing against today's superior competition. I agree that we should be happy with the last two seasons since the football program is right where Jamie told us it would be. I now recognize that I have simply failed to recognize how the football program has actually been improving over the last several years. Yes, I see now that JP has given us exactly what we wanted. This is a Cyclone state!!

You're right, it has. We've set records in number of season tickets sold, and are in as good as (or better) financial situation than we've ever been.

That's Jamie's job.

Jamie talks the talk. The problem is fans are starting to expect him to walk the walk. My fear is the $$ is going to start to dry up before these programs turn around. I assume, if we have financial shortages on top of failure to reach the "next level" (playing in BCS bowl games was the goal at the time we escorted Coach Mac out the door); you will not continue to have a favorable approval rating for JP??

Yes, I do. Pollard's own history of firing the coaching staffs for football, wrestling (Douglas), men's basketball, soccer, cross country, track & field, women's golf, tennis, and softball. As well as overseeing the departure of KJ Kindler and Cael Sanderson. Most of them for little-to-no cause. If Pollard took the so called "cause" he used to justify firing Wayne Morgan and applied them to Greg McDermott, Greg would be gone. Ditto for Chizik.

Morgan: 3 years, 55-39 record, 1 NCAA, 1 NIT = fired
McDermott: 3 years, 44-50 record, 0 NCAA, 0 NIT = 9 year contract

Mac: last 2 years, 11-13 record 1 bowl = fired
Chizik: 2 years, 5-19 record, 0 bowls = contract extension

If Nebraska, Iowa, or any of our rivals hired an AD who came in and fired eight (8) coaching staffs in his first year and a half we would be laughing about it forever. Especially when their replacements put up the records above.

Nice proof - or should I say, revisionist history and massive editorialization. This is HARDLY proof that JP came in with an agenda to make changes en masse, but what it does show is that JP was willing to make changes when FANS DEMANDED HE MAKE CHANGES (of course, you forget that at least 80% of the fan base demanded that McCarney be fired during the 2006 season, but since that doesn't fit your revisionist agenda, it didn't happen...).

Part of being a good AD is ignoring fans when they demand coaches get fired. There were a lot of fans that wanted Ferentz fired not that long ago.

McDermott would have been hired at Iowa if ISU hadn't went after him first. He may or may not end up being successful at ISU, but at the time it was a good hire.

It's put up or shut up time, dude. You need to produce one post or other proof that I ever, at any time, wanted McCarney fired. I await your results.

Monty, when are you going to own up to the fact you bagged on Mac worse than anyone on here. I just don't get you, I really don't.

Dude, you're clueless. It's put up or shut up time: Find one post where I ever criticized Mac. The worst thing I ever posted about him was that he had lost fan support.

Hey Rotatingcolumn, I'm still waiting for your response. What's up dude???

It gets worse - just wait till jd puts quotes around some made-up ramblings then makes the claim you posted it.

Let's see any evidence that I ever "bagged on Mac" or "wanted McCarney fired".

Where is it?

Why are you two hiding???

This is really funny!! Monte is accused of "revisionist history and massive editorialization" by the above "poster" who gave us the following:

Dudes, seriously. You talked your talk, now walk the walk.

Show us the money. Find even one shred of evidence that I "wanted Mac fired" or "bagged on Mac". Where is it? Why don't you have the stones to back up your statements???

Now that it has been a few days and I've had some time to recover from the game I would just like to say a few words.

I am disappointed.

That is all.
