A few thoughts:
The offensive play in the first half was truly offensive. Probably the worst we've looked all season, even worse than we looked during the beatdowns against Utah and OU.
The defense did well to hold KU to 9 points today (the TD was scored against our scrubs) considering the short field we gave them after our first "possession."
What does everyone think about Turner Gill deciding to run the clock out at the end of the first half to kick the FG? They had time to throw the ball into the end zone at least twice into the end zone before attempting the FG, there was about 20 seconds left and they had at least one TO left, maybe two. If coach Rhoads had done that I would have been ******* ******. Gill must have thought the potential for a turnover wasn't worth risking the potential 3 points before half, but you could see from the body language on his players that they weren't happy with the decision.
The offense looked great on those first two drives of the second half. A good mix of running and throwing, and AA was making good decisions on the zone read. We went a couple of weeks where he couldn't run the ball from the zone read, and the opponents knew it and would always tee off on A-Rob. KU looked like they were expecting the same thing each time we ran the zone read as AA had good space each time he took it.
A few uncharacteristic drops by WR's in the first half kept the offense from getting in sync. They tightened up in the second half.
How about your thoughts on Gill using the TO at the end of the game? **** move or prudent? I know some will say that you should play and coach to win the game at all times, but they weren't going to get 3 scores in 30 seconds and they put our players at risk of injury as well as their own by running that extra meaningless play.
