Sadly, they are correct. And honestly, even then, I don't know. In the only comparable game we have against the top half of the Big 12 standings....

They a** beat Kansas 40-14.
They lost close to Oklahoma on a last second TD.
They dominated BYU with their backup QB in a game that BYU's starter played.

We got whupped in Norman and lost to Kansas.

Again. I think we have a chance but the reality is this is not 2011 Oklahoma State, which was a very flawed team.

There are two truths.

We are a decent team that can be a good team.
And we don't match up well anywhere with Texas.

Does that mean we'll lose 48-0. No, not it doesn't. Does it mean we can't win 31-0? No, no it doesn't. It just means realistically there is a gulf between this years team and Texas team. Part of that is experience, part of it is pure talent.

It's been a loooooooooooong time since Texas has been in this driver's seat position though, in the conference or nationally.

Teams like that have a tendency to cough one up.

It's not like we're talking about a recent SEC power or Ohio State that are in this situation almost every year where it's just their usual setting. Texas had been losing to the KU's and ISU's regularly and just got it together this year in terms of playing to their potential. They've been scraping by the past few weeks, not crushing people. They were 7 points better than @Houston. ISU is better than Houston. ISU can win.

If I had to chose I think @KSU is the harder game for us looking at how they've been playing and how they were in position to win @texas.

Um, 2011 Okie State was one of the least flawed teams this.conference has produced in the last 10-20 years.

If ISU can pull the upset, I believe that would eliminate Texas from a chance at the Big 12 title along with obviously eliminating their chance at a national championship.

Umm... 2011 Okie State's defense was as hot as a crap I take after taco bell.

Giving up 184 yards rushing per game, 450+ yards per game and gave up 348 points.

So.. er, they were plenty flawed.

You're not wrong. But that's where, to me, our youth factors in.

If we were a veteran team, then yes, I think we're in a prime position to take advantage of a possible opportunity to take advantage of Texas like you mentioned.

As a young team that still is very much discovering itself - I don't know if we're in a spot to take advantage of it.

Honestly, I don't love either matchup. Here or K-State. Which is why getting that win at BYU was so freaking huge because now for me at least we're just playing with house money

I can't see this ISU team losing a 2nd night game in a row at home. They know they missed a golden opportunity against KU. They know they need a good start against Texas. Once the crowd gets fired up, Texas will start making mistakes. I think ISU either wins comfortably or (if Texas plays well) it comes down to the last play.

ISU looked super disciplined against BYU. Campbell has them locked in. All 3 phases are playing well. ISU wins 34-19.

I'm past years if you really went through the lineups, we had better players at most positions. That is not the case right now. I think we maybe have 3 defensive players I would take over theirs and our tight end is a stud too. Other than that they have better players everywhere.

Kansas seemed like nervous optimism.

This game has a “take it personal” feel.

Defend Jack Trice against a hated soon-to-be-EX conference foe….the same way we have the last 2 meetings in Ames.

Thriving Underdogs cherishing Senior Night.

Show their asses the door out of the Big 12 via Ames, Iowa.
