We knew there would be some growing pains on defense. But this is beyond belief. Broomfield and Knott the only ones who deserve to be on a big 12 team. Messingham screwed the pooch with those 2 red zone field goals. Gonna be a long year. Was thinking 5 wins, now maybe 2.

Wait...what?

What about #5? He's started for the last three years....TMH

If we can't stop UNI, we won't stop anyone. I'm scared to see what Seastrunk will do. Hell, I'm worried about Weisman in 2 weeks. Got a long season ahead of us.

I've been to quite a few ISU football games over the years and that is by far the worst outing I've seen. Needless to say I will not be spending $60 to watch that crap again.

Unfortunately, there is going to be allot of this attitude amongst the non fanatic types.

I just don't get how our offense can be that bad after 5 years. We've had the chance to recruit the players for our "system", and it hasn't worked.

It's so pitiful. It seems like every offensive series goes zone read, zone read, throw short of the sticks, punt.

I mean, we've got great running backs, and decent tight ends... how is that the offense that we play?

Highly offensive coordinator does not appear to be as good as tom herman. Herman had 40 points today against Buffalo.

Messingham has always sucked! It wont get any better, he couldn't coach at division 3 Upper Iowa let along at D1. Fire his dumb ***.

Upper Iowa is D2. Not that it matters in this case, but wanted to point it out because I went there lol

I think this loss is inexcusable, but I am hoping that the players do too and we see a new spirit from them next game and maybe this season turns around. Afterall, we are not the only team that looked bad first game.

This is CPRs 5th year......... if he can't get this thing going I don't know that ISU will ever get above what we have seen in the past 10 years.

Guess we now have to hold out for year 6 or 7 to get our hopes up for much.

At least some of our linemen will win the Big XII's "Best Dressed" Award. They have obviously learned more about fashion (belly shirts) than football in the offseason over at Chi Omega.

Thoughts from a still drinking Cyclone fan...

Drunk on the Kool-Aid...we will compete for 4 wins, may end up with only 2 (or 1) (or 0).

Anybody ever notice that teams seem to kill with 8 yard sit-down routes outside the hashes?

Was David Johnson visible to everyone on the field? A lot of "almost" tackles on him, but ended up with air.

Somebody posted on this already, but Richardson seemed to run 50% of time, and our stable of 4 backs ran the other 50%...do we not want Richardson to finish the season?

I would prefer we never attempted a place-kick again unless it was the 4th quarter and it would give us the lead, if it doesn't meet both of those criteria, then we don't kick. Go for the first down and go for 2, I like our odds better.

Both of our lines were garbage for the majority of the night.

Can anybody remind me why any of our coaches were high on Jevohn Miller? Were they just high? He was a train wreck tonight...but I'll give the coaches the benefit of the doubt. He may get better or be better than we saw tonight, I hope.

POSITIVE NOTE: Knott made our defense better. The Coleman kid is intriguing (though couldn't find him in the 2nd half).

Here's to a much needed week off!

That doesn't mean he's not a good coach. He coaches the team up for big games, he's got a history of that. Our defense (behind him and Burnham) have been good every year, and I think we'll still get better this year.

Being fooled into thinking that a coordinator has a system that will eventually work is different than being a bad coach. It's not like Rhoads calls the offensive plays.

Great coaches have great assistants. You are correct he has a great defensive coordinator. If your offense had been horrible in your tenure I would think you would start to pay pretty close attention to it. It was pretty clear at the end of last year we did not have the right OC. So I am not shocked that our offense is still horrible. Whats the definition of insanity? Keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.
