Richardson has no business carrying the ball 21 times!!!! Wimberly 8 carries, White 7, Shontrelle 5, Woody 3 and Nealy 0... IMO, this is on the coaches. We are supposed to have a great stable of RBs... give the the f****** ball!!!

Have to agree with that sentiment. Sam is going to get beat to hell like that. Our RB's weren't ripping off huge gains, but they were rarely stuffed either. It's like we forgot about them.

Didn't take long for the joy of the season starting to die.

Well, we are ISU, one of two things. We either scrap the SEZ because it's all over, or we build it in November to push season ticket sales for next year. Either way, I have a feeling if any school comes calling for JP, he's gone. This isn't disappointing, this is a game changer. I'm usually a glass half full kind of guy, but this, seriously is game over.

Keep recruiting the way we have been the last 2-3 years and it's going to eventually catch up with you.

How can you say he is a great coach when he is responsible for bringing in the staff that should be let go??

That doesn't mean he's not a good coach. He coaches the team up for big games, he's got a history of that. Our defense (behind him and Burnham) have been good every year, and I think we'll still get better this year.

Being fooled into thinking that a coordinator has a system that will eventually work is different than being a bad coach. It's not like Rhoads calls the offensive plays.

When Messingham realizes that the zone read isn't a good ISU play, he'll be a better coach. Obviously, he hasn't realized anything yet.

It's often said that in life, sometimes you need to find your rock bottom before you can start to turn things around. I wonder if the same can be said for this program. From what I've seen Paul Rhoads seems very intelligent and (wishful thinking) still has a lot to offer as a college football coach. I'm wondering/hoping that this loss maybe will force him and the rest of the team to get past all of the "so proud" and "all in" feel-goody bull **** and really stop and look at where the programs at, and think about what direction the team might be headed in and make some changes to how the team is run (e.g. firing Messingham).

I'm incredibly drunk right now.

I love Paul Rhoads and he's really struggled to bring in talent, and we're seeing the end result of that. Filling up 70% of your classes with guys that had zero stars, no rivals profiles and zero other BCS offers, will catch up to you. IMO, there's no excuse for losing to UNI in year 4 of the program.

Losing to uni is past inexcusable...........Heads need to roll......immediately.

I see a lot of people blaming the offense, and yes, they were not great but was it really their fault? I seem to remember the defense spotting UNI 21 points. Seriously, go back and watch the game and see when the first non-positive-yardage play happened and it was the last possession of the first half. The first 3 possessions UNI did WHATEVER THEY WANTED! I am a huge Wally fan but I really don't understand what their gameplan was, unless it was "Let UNI score 21 points before tackling someone", in which case - Job Well Done.

This performance right here is why i was ******* shocked people were predicting 6,7,8 wins this year.

Is Frank Solich still coach at Ohio? Because if he's available, this is actually a really good idea.

If there's one thing that Frank Solich is going to do, it's come to Iowa State to work as a coordinator under PR.

LOL.

So dumb.

Just unreal. That is the worst defense I have seen in a long time. I am frightened to what the B12 is going to do to them. I am not even remotely confident that ISU beats Iowa. Just embarrassing.

I hear this, I really do. But everyone knew the def was going to be worse this year with what we lost. Everyone was looking for the offense to score more to make up for it.

Basically, this year's team is the same as last year's team, but the defense is worse because they are younger. Messingham needs to be demoted from off coordinator tomorrow morning.

This is only a program buzz-killing, momentum ending game if you make it that way. You (we) are the fans who support the program and push past bad/tough losses. Are we in rough shape? Yes... There wasn't any doubt that we would be. However, it is the first game of the season. If we're 0-4, or 0-6 then I can stand hearing all of this about program killing losses, etc... If you're going to give up this easy on a young team then you really aren't Cyclone fans. Look at what we've had to endure in the past, and one loss is going to get you to give up??

Sorry to provide a bit of logic and forward thinking in this thread, but figured I could waste my time trying to talk a few of you so-called Cyclone fans off the ledge for a few minutes...

Not necessarily true. If this turns into a 1-2 year win, in year 5, the wheels will fall off of recruiting. Recruiting is already "iffy" and that's putting it mildly. We've been filling our classes with mostly unheard of kids with ZERO BCS offers.

It's hard to keep any sort of momentum going in year 5 of a rebuilding job, when you go 1-11 or 2-10 which is entirely possible.

It won't matter if the fans are "all in" at that point.
